    Thanks again, did it this afternoon and it was all exactly as you said although I had ramps and undid the 2 x 12mm bolts at the back of the shield to drop it out. The only wild thing was that the sump plug torx was a T45 not a T40, I put a T40 in first but felt a little loose (which Torx will if they're one size too small) but may have still worked, a T45 was nice and snug though. Other sources online say T40 too so that's weird

      Yeah so I should have added in the video the original one on the vehicle was a T45 but the ones I buy from my local car parts are T40 , I even had one ones that at a 13mm socket but didn't like how easy they can round off , but glad it helped it's a pretty straight forward job and definitely saves some money

    Thanks very much. You've got an engine cover missing on top if you didn't know, goes around the airbox and oil filler and over the turbo

      @@TheHairyHouseWife ahh that would make sense as I can't see the supporting brackets for it either, no great loss!

    Speaking as a former mechanic. Can't fault what you have done. Only thing you said that was wrong was at the beginning you called it a ratchet spanner and it's a ratchet and socket. That's the ONLY thing I can knit pick at. Rest is spot on and exactly how I would go about it. I would also guess you didn't need to replace that sump plug as it was just loose 🙈

      Yeah 😂 quite possibly could have got away with putting it back on as it has a rubber o ring not a copper crush one and when I did inspect it looked in good condition once I wiped all the oil off 🤣 massive fail on my behalf, I remember doing it and I was rushing as we had so where to be and I didn't know this until I drained the oil, the wife was rushing me and yeah I can remember thinking to myself at time did I tighten it, turns out I didn't 😂 Yeah I always called it a ratchet spanner even tho it's not 😂 but thanks again I'm no mechanic I know my way around. May not always be the right way but it works 😂

    Hi, how many miles can you do before you need an oil change. I'm new to owning a Fiat 500 L. Thank you.

    • @TheHairyHouseWife
      @TheHairyHouseWife  Před 13 dny

      I believe it's recommended between 10-12k miles on the 1.3d model like this one , how far can you go over is questionable currently I'm at 22k miles and about to do it but I wouldnt recommend it

      @@TheHairyHouseWife Hey thank you for the reply, I'm reaching the 9k mark and the warning light is flashing. I think I'm going to book it in just to put my mind at ease, plus the light won't turn off with pedal method so hopefully they can reset for me. Maybe next time I'll have to courage (and the tools) to change the oil myself.

      @@jononx100 unfortunately only way to tackle the light is by having the obd reader for the vehicle altho mine has been flashing now for around about 60k miles 😂

      Once you've changed the oil their are a few steps you can try to turn the light off however these didn't work for me, I had to visit my local garage to get my light off

      You need to buy an interface for £20 or so and multiecuscansoftware which is £50. No other way apart from a dealer. It's worth it though as it'll do it next time or for any fiat
