  • The Sex Pistols' God Save The Queen was going to reach number 1 in the music charts, but this caused controversy due to the anniversary of the Queen's jubilee. There is a conspiracy theory that states the BBC rigged the charts. They did this by banning them from their radio stations and not filming them play live on Top of The Pops.

Having lived abroad for many years I now realise that we are "spoon fed" here in the UK. The BBC does this so well and anything which upsets the management at the BBC , it simply censors oout . This also now applies to other channels like Channel 4, which were supposed to have some degree of independence.
what is even more disturbing is the fact that the reail stores stopped selling the song , Boots, WH Smith amongst many ... the indoctrnation went very far.
And yet ! when support for the Charlie Hebdo journalist was needed during the republishing of the mohammed cartoons , ALL these entities, BBC, Channel 4, WHSmith , Boots ran a mile and refused to publish or sell the magazine . ..
    Disgraceful and so cowardly !!

I don't believe the Pistols were kept off number 1 in the charts by the Bbc but the record was not stocked in Boots , Wh Smith, Woolworths so feasible for Rod Stewart to sell more that week

I was only 7 at the time of the silver jubilee. I didn’t know what punk was. I’d never heard of it. The BBC would’ve played a huge part in that. (My parents were part-time hippies too, so that would’ve played a part too I guess).
