I really love that Marty is SOOO highly talented and it took him years to get to where he’s at and yet he was ready to learn!!
It blows my mind how many great guitarists simply can’t do metal. And the metal guys only do metal where are the people like me who do both?
stay humble, ur allows you to learn. white belt mentality.
Yes! This is what I want. Can’t wait for part 2.
You've got the best guy for the job!! Jamie is a MONSTER player!! Can't wait to see more 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Marty I love your channel and as a huge metal head this was such a fun video!
I like to pedal to the E string while alternating between double stops on the A and D string on the 5th and 7th fret! 😎🎸🎸 It makes a pretty good metal sound.
Two badass dudes, both shredders
This is rad! Thanks Marty and Jaime!

Long live Metal
Marty I really love your natural guitar playing style, especially the blues major third hammer on lick. Also the intro of your first electric guitar lesson, I try to copy that in order to get better, to showcase what the electric guitar stands for I feel you portray a happy cool vibe with it. Thanks. And looking forward to see what the metal world holds.
Love that he explored this
YES I WISH I HAD A TONE VIDEO LIKE THIS ONE AS A BEGINNER it can be very tedious to get the right tone and the gear when starting off and I’ve experimented a lot and made a lot of mistakes
Thank you for this
Been waiting for a Marty metal series FOREVER! Day = made
Finally what I've been looking for!
Huge thanks all the way from Chula Vista…lol. Every time I want to learn a new song or style, your videos are there for me.
Great job Jamie playing “Battery”! That was tight
I am just getting to the point where I want to add some metal playing to my practice. This was a great starting point.
The best metal lesson I ever saw was a lesson with Danny Spitz from Anthrax in an issue of Guitar School magazine from 1992. It was called "Rhythm & Bruise". Basically, he elaborated on the whole Anthrax rhythm technique and went over palm muting, choking the pick (you gotta get some fingernail in there), downstrokes, all of it. I had already sent lessons from Hatfield and Mustaine, but I got more of the one from Spitz than both of them put together.
Marty is the goat. Humbleness at it's best.
Anytime I look up anything guitar. Any genre
Marty pops up! So , funny right now I’m learning metal guitar!

Awesome way to branch out. I love all styles and love chugging on the A. Communication Breakdown isn't really "metal" per se, but it is great for refining your chugging.
Rock on!
thanks! ill check it out
Communication Breakdown and many other Zep songs were actually considered some of the earliest heavy metal back in the early-mid '70's, when the idea of heavy metal first began to be popularized. (I know. I was there! (: ) A lot of what we now consider Classic Hard Rock was the metal of the time. The definition kinda shifted during the '80's, and really only Sabbath and Judas Priest from the earlier '70's proto heavy metal era are now considered metal anymore. But as late as 1978, Creem Magazine, in a special Heavy Metal edition, was calling Led Zeppelin the High Priests of Heavy Metal, and Led Zeppelin II "quivering chunks of white-hot metal!" People forget that, and a lot of people under 55 or so never knew it. But it helps to bear that in mind as one considers the evolution of the metal genre from what Dee Snider calls "the greasy grey roots of metal" to the form it takes today.
@@seanbaines Most people seem to give Black Sabbath the credit for being the first metal band, but I agree. LZ had more than a couple songs that qualify. Metal doesn't have to just be about satan and death.
@@someguy5035 Agreed. It almost feels like being gaslighted, sometimes. I was there. Zeppelin were the early kings of what was then called heavy metal, and their harder, heavier songs are foundation tracks of the genre's early development. Sabbath and Judas Priest were very important, of course, but Zep was considered the biggest heavy metal band.
The definition of metal has changed as the genre has developed. A lot of the oldest stuff doesn't fit a more contemporary definition. But I think we have to be cautious about reclassification. Yes, Zep fits in well with other progressive hard rock bands from that time. Yes, ultimately, that's how they are best seen. But they co-lead the way in metal's earliest development. That tends to get forgotten when looking at '70's music through a contemporary sensibility. It shouldn't be.
Great job, gentlemen :)
jamie is a fucking champion
I'm all here for this
yehhhh maybe ill have to come back if marty will have me again?!
Looking forward to the new chanel Marty's Metal Music. 🎸 🤘
