  • Russia has been funding, training, and arming militant groups in Sub-Saharan Africa to overthrown existing governments that were once French colonies. The situation has gotten so bad for France that President Macron has finally realized the only way to secure France's economic interests abroad is to do everything they can to help Ukraine defeat Russia today. Europe is at war again as the Russians attempt to reforge their old empire by invading their neighbors.

      France is a lot more likely to press the red button than Russia, because they're a country of easy going hotheads. While life is cool they are cool, but once they lose their cool they make Hitler look like Mother Teresa, and they don't give a flying monkeys about Russian intimidation. Besides that the Dutch support in many other ways and have committed themselves for the long term with a 10-year security agreement.

    • @silvasdamata
      @silvasdamata Před 2 měsíci +4

      ‘Thou shalt not kill” is a commandment from the Old Testament. Jesus said he didn’t come to abolish the old law, but he added other things, such as “love your enemies, bless those who hurt you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute you”. I don’t think you can really rely on Jesus for justification of war. One might say, however, that he allowed for those situations where it’s impossible to follow the highest law of love “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, give to God what belongs to God “. As a Christian, your highest aspiration is to live up to his example of uncompromising love. But life, politics often put us in situations where we’re compelled to fight against injustice, preserve our own life or that of our neighbour against an aggressor, etc. Christians were often inspired to endure martyrdom, but were by no means mandated to it. Just don’t claim to do war in the name of God, or to have his blessing, because your right, or your reasons, have nothing to do with God, all to do with the world. With all that said, I myself believe Ukraine’s cause is just and fully support them, because they’re the victims of, and, so far, the only obstacle to, a power that wants to undo decades of international law and institutions that, though imperfect, contribute more to peace than against it.

      They don't have the capabilities for a full war on the ground. Their Navy is the one getting most of the new budget. I just hope they are not committing the biggest miscalculation and then get attacked by Russia to call for article 5. The west is not ready, and we are gonna spread thin if we don't wait for the 2-3 possible fronts in southeast and east asia. Also, we need to know who India and Saudi Arabia is gonna support after that. There is a lot of factors and NATO is not ready and doesn't have the capability to mass mobilize, and we dont have a secure and/or stable Indian Ocean alliance in case Saudi Arabia and India decides to support Russia, Iran, and China in a full scale war.

    France has always favored diplomacy in conflict resolution, let us never forget that France considers diplomacy as a weapon and has built the foundations of modern diplomacy since Louis XIV. But France also knows that war remains the ultimate weapon when all others have failed. It is the policy to "reaching out a hand" before moving on to "armed hand" if the first fails.
    Those who do not know France interpret its position as weakness while France considers war to be the ultimate resort.
