- When it comes to manufacturing slabstock in a continuous process, the use of high-pressure technology, the liquid laydown process and the flat-top system allows processors to achieve a highly efficient raw material yield and excellent foam qualities at a very attractive price performance ratio. Fun to show my kids - thanks for making this video. I previously worked for 15 years for British Vita in the UK as a development chemist and most of their machines are Henneke technology. Brings back a lot of fun memories! The slabstock process is amazing to show to other people and one of my favourite activities was giving people plant tours.

Worked on Hennecke in UK and commissioned machine in Germany..
I worked at foam plant and worked on pouring line. I had to jump on belt remove weights of the butcher paper while the hot foam was steaming next to me. I ended up getting throat cancer 10 years later tdi chemical does cause cancer in mice. Polyurethane not to bad.
The Hennecke slab stock continuous line is well equipped with the latest technology.

Wonderful machine. Small doubt how are the gases go out from the full rise area? because we closed the foam completely by paper.
The most important benefits of the FLAT-TOP system are the optimal use of raw materials and improved foam properties in terms of density and hardness distribution. In our experience, there are no problems with escaping gases from the final product, as this already happens during production despite the usage of a paper top.

In a nutshell? The main difference is that in high-pressure machines the components are mixed by high-pressure collision - as the name suggests. Low-pressure machines, on the other hand, use air mixing, possibly with the addition of a stirrer-mixer. There are, of course, other differences.

Temperature and humidity are important factors when processing polyurethane and could affect your production. Luckily, the finished products like, for example, matresses don't have similar properties as ice cream 🍦🍦 and therefore won't melt even on hot days. That would be rather inconvenient. 😱

Thanks for your interest. Yes, the reaction is exothermic and the highest temperature in a PU block is reached several hours after foaming. This temperature can reach also over 150°C or even higher.
In case of slabstock there is no mould. The foam comes in the case of MULTIFLEX out of the tunnel as a square continuous block, cut in acertain length by a block cutter.

Pu foam temperature depends upon the parts of water and amount Tdi used in formulation, for 23 density pure foam it may be around 155 c if you use Mcl it may reduce depending upon the parts of Mcl
