Thanks for this video, I just tore my wife's car apart expecting the foam to be gone (it's not great, but not the problem) and then realized the door was not moving with the cable. I had no idea where to go next, thinking I may have to pull the entire assembly out. Thanks a lot, you saved me a bunch of time and hassle!
I wished that I had watched this video 500 miles ago in the 100 degree desert heat with my 2005 VW TDI heater stuck on high, and with my dog in the back seat! That was a miserable drive to get home. I watched your video the next day then I reached in and pushed the pin bushing back in place and was able to get my AC blowing cold again. You saved my summer because I can temp fix it in the cold position and just do the correct repair in the fall. Thank you.
Thanks for this video. This is what I am suspecting on my 2010 Passat. Dealer is telling me it is my heater core which I highly doubt as it happened over night. That was after telling me it was the thermostat but I argued with them enough about that that they rechecked and came up with a heater core. I didn't know where to go to find this blend door but now I do. Hopefully this is my problem.
Bob Winters hi Bob did you ever fix that blend door on your 2010 Passat I have an issue with my 2012 Passat I believe mine's a blend door problem too it just throws cold air on the passenger side
Liked your video....I am about to check into the problems my wife's 01 Jetta wagon has with heat and air....lots of foam has blown out so pretty sure the foam is toast. While I have yet to work on mk4....on the mk2's I have had very good success with aluminum duct tape in place of the foam
do you have a part number for this? this is the exact problem i am having.. weird coincidence, my heater core flange snapped off, so i bypassed the entire heater core, the day i fix it, my bushing stopped working..
Tdi guy, I did the fix for the blend doors on my mk4 gti. I now have hot air blowing all the time. Can you tell me where you bought the blend door bushing in your video please? I noticed one of my doors was loosely moving as you described. Thanks.
My problem is the defrost blend door doesn't work. When I turn the vent selector is gets very stiff turning it to windshield and hardly and air comes out.
I’m having a problem getting my new one to click back in place. I have everything lined up just can’t get it pushed up in far enough to click. Any thoughts?
Mike Kelly I was looking at the RepairPal Q&A and saw a question there - maybe it was posted by you - so I subsequently came here to find a video to help with your heater output concern... Based on what was posted there - this is the most likely culprit... Good luck with the repair ! - (pushrod)
CoolAirVw Rm Easy enough to determine - grab hold of heater hoses - are both of em HOT with engine at normal temperature? ... Restricted core is one possibility - but easy to determine that.

That fixed our car, was a 10 minute fix and only had to take off the foam cover on the drivers side. Thanks a bunch!!
Great video!!Thanks!!

@@learjetdiesel Not a blend door on 2010 nor is it the bushing. Its probably the heater core.
Thank you nice video

Is it possible to perform this on polo 3 6n2 without removing entire dashboard?
Thank you

What is the part number for both levers, previous owner attempted this repair on my mk4. It's missing the bushing and both link arms
Are these pins in the MKV Jetta’s too?
Hey TDI Guy. Thank you for the DIY video! Can you share the OEM part # for the blend door pivot that you replaced?
This is one of many reasons I hate vw. Those jerk engineers designed the blend doors to fail. Was pointless to stamp holes just to cover with foam.
Weight reduction = go faster. Thats the reason why!!👍😁
They quoted me $1200 at a repair shop too fix it, no way man.
My problem is the defrost blend door doesn't work. When I turn the vent selector is gets very stiff turning it to windshield and hardly and air comes out.
i took mine out but now there is nothing to connect the pin to. its like the housing dissapeared?
Jonathon Hinkle i have same problem, you solve it?

cray8705 I'm having the same issue, did you figure out how to get the new pin locked into place properly?
cray8705 i have same problem, you found it ?
make sure door is lined up then put some muscle into it.

Im just not getting any heat with my 2013 jetta. Everything seems fine, just no heat. Could this be the problem?
