    Thanks for this video, I just tore my wife's car apart expecting the foam to be gone (it's not great, but not the problem) and then realized the door was not moving with the cable. I had no idea where to go next, thinking I may have to pull the entire assembly out. Thanks a lot, you saved me a bunch of time and hassle!

    Hey TDI Guy. This is excellent detective work. Thank you for posting. I am experiencing this same problem in my daughter's 2014 Sonic (with the oil light on). A slight amount of moisture was found in the middle ECM plug (just like yours). However, no moisture was in that thermostat housing sensor (like yours). I am wondering if you knew the location of other coolant sensors that could be sending coolant through the wiring harness.

    I had my oil changed in my 2013 cruze, never had an issue before today and I usually change my oil but I had a free oil change coupon at our local car dealer. Right after the oil change I had this issue I am researching what it could possibly be.

    I wished that I had watched this video 500 miles ago in the 100 degree desert heat with my 2005 VW TDI heater stuck on high, and with my dog in the back seat! That was a miserable drive to get home. I watched your video the next day then I reached in and pushed the pin bushing back in place and was able to get my AC blowing cold again. You saved my summer because I can temp fix it in the cold position and just do the correct repair in the fall. Thank you.

    Wow... I think this is my problem too. I replaced the thermostat recently and now I'm on the side of the road with an oil pressure light. I checked the connector and sure enough there was moisture in it. I'm gonna tow it to the house to be safe, but I'm pretty confident you just saved me a ton of money.

    • @jaycee5585
      @jaycee5585 Před 3 lety

      Well, I am happy to report that this was indeed the issue. There was orange coolant in the ECM connector. Dorman strikes again! I blew it out really well, and for now I am just disconnecting the sensor on the thermostat. (I really don't want to replace the thermostat again... it was such a pain.) It sucks not being able to use the remote start, but I can deal with it until I have the time to spare. Can anyone recommend a brand of replacement thermostat that doesn't have this issue?

    • @blakedavis3793
      @blakedavis3793 Před 3 lety

      No, just unbolt the compressor from underneath the car and slide it over. You don't have to lose the freon on the system. That's the rookie way. It's a tight fit, however, much easier then vacuuming down the system and replacing freon.

    I got 2015 sonic same thing on oil pressure light I been driving with this wire unplugged I been blowing out with air compressor every day after work where it plugged into the thermostat it been a little wet I started get a code 84 twice which is throttle body when the wire was plugged in thermostat haven't had code 84 since I have left wire off not sure if this was caused by the antifreeze get in throttle body also but tracking light came on lost of power engine light staying on cause wires not plugged in but I'm kind of thinking this might be a problem of the antifreeze messing up the throttle body also like the oil light

    • @jerryneiberg1012
      @jerryneiberg1012 Před 4 lety

      Well I plugged 2 prong wire back in 2 weeks ago where it was wet causing the old antifreeze that leaked out into modular causing oil pressure sensor light to ding and seem to been the probably also of the throttle body losing power have not had no issues now pretty sure it all dried out of system now believe this was some how cutting power in throttle body causing traction light to come on engine light on just enough power to move a little so don't jump the gun and go buy another throttle body like me if you lost antifreeze
