    You did well good on you for making video it really helps. I have been a two stroke rider for 32 years and done all own engine rebuilds . But four strokes
    are all new to me, but I like doing all my own repairs. Thanks

      You’re welcome! I’m a 4 stroke rider who went to 2 stroke lol. Not sure I’ll ever go back, I just fix other peoples broken stuff

    Great video thanks. I think I will try the zip tie trick to keep the timing. I appreciate the math and saved this video for when I do this.

    Thank you very much, I’m about to do this to my 06 KX450F. It’s being very hard to start lately even after changing the spark plug and cleaning the carburetor.

    thanks bro very helpful man i just got a 15 kx 450f and don’t no shit about 4 strokes been a 2 stroke rider never worked or rode one very different lol i got the whole bike down to frame and motor it looks like they didn’t take really good care of it so being a 450 everything was loss even the dam spokes but now i’m getting into the motor i just wanna see if it’s as bad as the rest of it any tips on what i should be looking for or what would you check on it if you just got it thanks bro

      Glad it helped! Well depends on how much money you’re willing to put up. Ideally you’d wanna know the health of the top end (less critical than ye olde 2 strokes), and if taking it that far apart you should check the crank/rod bearings. To get that far though you’ll need new top end gaskets at the very least.
      Another option to see how tight a top end is you can perform a leakdown test (see my other video for 4 stroke leakdown). Valve clearances of course too should be checked.
      But essentially it comes down to how much piece of mind you want. Sometimes if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, but if you don’t trust the last guy you just gotta use your judgement to see how far you wanna go

    Is the shim size the same for all bikes

    Should my targeted valve clearance be the smallest I could get ?

      @yeggar649 Před 4 lety

      I believe the gap would be on the bigger side since you lose clearance (the gap tightens up as the valve wears).

      Just take out the 2 bolts that hold it to the cylinder
