  • In this video I install an hour meter/Tachometer for my outboard motor. The hour meter can be used on any motor, not just an outboard motor. Pretty easy to install. So, the velcro goes on the back of the unit over where the battery access is, or did you trim it? It's a little thing.

    @bigair01 Have you ever adjusted your idle screw? I set mine to a lower idle for trolling but started having issues with an intermittent rough idle in gear (at trolling speed). Running above idle and higher it runs fine. Just at low idle it doesn’t run very well consistently.

      No I have never adjusted my idle on my motor. On the ocean this the motor usually needs to idle up to troll for salmon. On a lake, it pushes the boat to fast at idle, to troll for trout.

    Does the time data go away when you change the battery?

      @bigair0176  Před 3 lety +1

      No. I haven’t changed the battery in it. It’s been a while since I have used my motor but if memory serves me every time I start my motor the power comes from it being started as well.

    You wrapped that sender wire around allot of times Did it say to do that. Mine said wrap 3-4 times. tack jumps around a little maybe i should wrap it some more.

      @bigair0176  Před 5 lety

      I think mine said 9-10 times I will have to check my manual again. I just wrapped it with what was left. My tach doesn't jump all over the place tho.

    The meter doesn't turn off ! Whats up with that? Why would you want it to stay on all the time?

      It has a small replaceable battery...it has a lot of features I don't use like the alarms...I basically bought it to keep track of hours only, and its what I bought on Amazon. It works pretty good tho..reasonable price and easy to install to answer your question..cheers

    is it worth adding it? its gives an idea about the hours of the engine

    • @bigair0176
      @bigair0176  Před 4 lety +1

      After having it’s relatively cheap but it’s nice to know how many hours is on the oil. I like it personally cause I do hours salmon trolling.
