    this is a very good review of this bike. I felt like i walked away with a good impression of how this bike actually feels and performs. I ride a big heavy cruiser and would like something like this for spirited back road riding....something that actually handles but is not too crazy. Thanks for all the useful details!

    Thanks for the review - great job and good commentary. One thing I did find when test riding this bike (for me at 5' 10"), is I felt I could have done with an extra inch or two in seat length. I always felt like I wanted to push myself further back along the seat. And I agree on the handle bars.

      have you felt big differences between the "full" 400 and the 650 35kw ? I hesitating between the z650 and z400 ! I rather go for the 650 because I think it looks so much nicer, but people say that a full 400 has better performances than a 650 47.5 hp

    People talk about the vibrations on the z650 but I feel none. I own a 2017 though and it’s my first bike (maybe that’s why I don’t notice it). I’ve taken it on 300 mile journeys with pretty good comfort. It’s pretty decent at 0-60 I’d say. Top end power though it’s not all there but that’s cause it’s not your sport bike like said here. Most vibrations are only felt in like 2000-4500rpm range. I love it. I’m looking at a z900 next. The z650 is a perfect starter bike, not a crazy amount power but yet not underpowered. I’ve never ridden anything before but I got used to the z650 bike quick.

    • @lastingeffort6775
      @lastingeffort6775 Před 4 lety +2

      The Banks Films Z650 is an awesome bike. Me and my friend just went riding today and he pulls harder 0-60 on his z650 than my sv650! I’m looking to upgrade in the near future as well. I suggest before buying that Z900, look at the Triumph Street Triple RS. It has usable power, great brakes/suspension and weighs 400ibs wet! It’s a bit pricey at 13K but well worth the quality and performance. If you get the Z900 used for a much cheaper price, I’d say that’s a great choice too. Can’t beat Japanese reliability!

    I also would like to know how it rides with a pillion rider. I like the idea that you're one with the bike rather that riding on top. At the moment I'm riding the Bonneville, I've been looking into the vulcan s and this z650, my wife rides the street triple and I don't like how they say it's an "upright" bike but I don't feel it is, I feel it has more forward than even my first bike which was the ninja 250. How is the foot positioning on the z650? Because I'm not looking for it to be too far back.

    If you’re going to purchase a bike in this class, the CB650R is the king, it has superior fit and finish, looks the best, and has substantially more performance with its inline 4. It’s $800 more then a MT07 at my local dealers, but that $800 is well worth it.

      Oddly enough, the Z400 ABS does have LED headlights and Tail lights but analog turns. Great lighting IMO. However the proprietary nature of the headlight assembly means if one bulb in the unit goes out, you must replace the ENTIRE assembly. Betting it's not cheap. You can always add an LED bulb to this, assuming bulbs for cars and bikes are standard sizes.

    This is my commuter bike for 2 years now and I also previously owned an (FZ)MT07 and I can easily say the MT is a far superior bike. Good points it's very easy to ride so a great choice for new riders and has excellent fuel consumption and build quality. Bad points are it's not fun to ride and the vibrations above 5k are really bad something no reviewers ever seems to mention.

    I have the 2019 in gray and blue. I’m 6’2” and I was a little cramped in stock seat but Kawasaki makes a great ergo seat that brings a whole new feel to the motorcycle. It takes turns effortlessly. The handle bars I’m with him on this one. If your grips was where the clutch and break levers are then it would be perfect. But overall I love the bike. You need to see Moto Gymkhana and Japanese Police training videos for better slow speed turning and cornering. Long story short you need to look where you want to go, counterbalance your upper body position but you also need to make room for the front wheel by for a split second going the opposite side of the maneouver and then turn in and lean the bike.

    Review form a 165cm swedish dude:
    Had mine since 2017 too 38000+ km (i regret never getting a new exaust after hearing your bike).
    You dont need more power on the road. Riding with people on sports bike who are "How the fuck can you keep up" ...(of course you are not keeping up on a straight, but who cares..).. well we are on twisty roads and you use 50% of our bike and I might use 80% of mine and I am not really pushing it...
    I changed my bar position too a bit higher too feel more one with the bike. I guess its because i've been riding motocross all my life.
    Love the bike and been doing camping trips like. 2000+ km and 10days+ camping trips through Norway and if u dont have some decent bike shorts you are going to have a bad time.
    Again I love the bike but it is time to upgrade. I am now choosing between a adventure bike or a sports bike and I dont know what to do..

      ShakeNBlake I’m the same size. I just started out in August, on a cbr300. These bikes are all unfortunately too damn small for me, but I’m kinda nervous to just hop right up to such high cc’s. I’m scared I’m gonna come into the throttle too hard by accident and the bike fly out fr under me. I’ve never felt more power than what I am used to on the little 300... so I don’t know what to expect or how torquey it’s gonna be.
