Oprahs big scandle was that as tiny as that school was those girls were sexually abused. Oprah kept saying for 9 years she was building this school with her Miracle Fund money. There is much that I like and admire about Oprah (she survived sexual abuse and body image issues and took the risk of becoming a television host anyway, that's courage). i really disliked Joan Rivers. but her sentiments about Oprah mirror my biggest beef about Oprah...she looses weight, brags about it, sticks her nose in the air and looks down on other people with weight problems, gets heavily into denial when she starts putting the weight back on, and gets fat all over again. she has every opportunity to lose and keep the weight off: dietitians , special cooks, the budget for purchasing the healthiest groceries, personal trainers, a work out room and work out equipment, hiring a 24/7 companion to watch her every move and discourage poor eating habits, even surgical procedures. still, she cycles over and over and brags over and over.
Oprah may exploit people but Joan actually caused hurt with her verbal abuse to get cheap laughs.

I used to love her tv show until one day she did something on her show that revealed her true self. She does not care about people black or white she cares about publicity. The car giveaway was a huge pat on her back. A homeless woman living in her car with 4 children wrote after seeing her so called generosity. The woman poured her heart out to her and she READ this letter on the air only to make fun of her and to say NO! When someone really needed her help she told them she is not a bank. No compassion for this woman at all!

She is a monster. I absolutely detest her after the interview she had with Prince and then wife Mayte right after the two had lost their son. She gave more evidence of that quality of hers when interviewing Harry and Meghan.
I think it's a shame that our culture is afraid to criticize Oprah, like she's some kinda demigod. She's not; she's a human being too and that means she is just as flawed as anyone. What sets her apart is how skilled she is at maintaining her personal brand, including her reputation. She has managed to become associated with social justice and personal integrity, as well as success, prosperity, achievement, and even moderately progressive politics. So, in a way, saying a word against Oprah sounds like speaking against what her brand represents. Add to that a sense of her being a matriarch, and you definitely end up with an anxiety similar to the fear of upsetting your own mom, auntie or grandma... if she were a famous billionaire with tremendous influence. Anyone that big (And no, I'm not fat-shaming. Fat-shaming is inexcusable and Joan Rivers, bless her crooked soul, could have thought of a better source of shade than Oprah's shed pounds.) didn't get that big by saintly, selfless deeds and words. While I haven't done the homework to know much about her, I'm certain there's plenty to criticize. And even if she's more good than bad, I know I can't stand little things about her persona. The whole sense of her brand, to me, is a cult of middle-aged women worshipping handsome actors, prodigy children, anyone who lost weight or otherwise triumphed against adversity, and... I don't know... hand lotion? As a mother staring down the corridor that leads to middle-age, that cult gives me the heebie-jeebies. And the little catchphrases are annoying. And, like, I'm sure Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison are great writers, but nobody is gonna make me wanna read their books. Has Vonnegut ever been on her list? Let me know when that happens. NuthinMuffins you are so on point. When I came into a certain season in life it was like a light came on. I realized that I would never read a book on her list and that was ok. I didn’t need her advice on how to dress, what to eat or what to believe. I realized my own opinions on things were just as important as hers. People started acting like she was the only person to follow or live by. I’m a bright person, I read what I like, I volunteer at my church and I think for myself. I have a wonderful husband and a beautiful family. My life has had tragedies and we have overcome them. I think for myself and I don’t think-no, I know I wouldn’t vote for her for anything.
Ironic, I think many hip-hop personalities are cry babies, I do not think many of them are good actors, per se. Everyone has his/her preferences, so, Oprah might dislike hip-hop, so what? Many people do, I mostly dislike much "mainstream" much today, like R&B and shit-hop, oops, I mean "hip-hop".

I could care less what celebrities think of anything but I had Oprah figured out in the 80's when she had her show in the Chicago market. One bloated spectacle.... And I'm not talking about her weight. The fact that she appears on the cover of her own magazine Every month says it all

I never read the magazine but after doing some quick research on Google I found you are 100% correct. EVERY cover has her on the front. I haven't found a single exception.
