    Thanks for the review. Altra shoe reviews are rare, so this helped me say bye-bye to Nike. This brings you 1 sub closer to 1000 subs.

    Great review! I especially enjoyed listening to your accent, where are you from? I say this with the upmost sincerity, i enjoy hearing people with different accents than my own.

    I love the shoes. I use them with the escalante racers in training, and have the carbons for race day. I do not fully agree on the agility part, compared to other speed shoes from other brands they are quite manouverable. But compared to the racers every shoe feels unstable

    • @jasparvowden
      @jasparvowden  Před rokem

      Nice mate, how many sessions per week on average do you use the tempo? That's a fair point, but I still believe it's a shoe that wouldn't be safe to take on any technical terrain as it lacks that agility and nimbleness so it deserves to be in its own category of shoe where it excels which is on the road or pavement

    • @GTE_Channel
      @GTE_Channel Před rokem +1

      @@jasparvowden i started using them 4 times a week ( I run a times a week), but I know typically use them one or twice and for the rest of the sessions I use the racers, which I find strangely comfortable in their weird own way.

    • @GTE_Channel
      @GTE_Channel Před rokem +1

      @@jasparvowden I agree I would only use the Tempos on asphalt or light trails. Anything technical I would not think about using them.

    • @jasparvowden

      @@GTE_Channel nice, so do you use the tempos for a variety of workouts? Slow runs as well? Also how do you find the vanish carbon compares to the tempo? I would love to get a pair to race in but it's an expensive hobby buying new shoes 😂😅
      Yeah the racers are great, I really like the breathable upper mesh on them and yes they are strangely comfortable, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is about them but they are very comfortable and versatile

    • @GTE_Channel
      @GTE_Channel Před rokem +1

      @@jasparvowden yeah I use the Tempos for easy runs and steady state. Also sometimes for long runs. Like you mentioned at first they feel strange with the rocker and the shape of the food bed. But now I do like them.
      The Carbons are definitely not Tempos with a carbon plate. The only two things that are the same are the geometry and the laces. They are way lighter and more breathable. They also come to life more when you pickup the speed. You do have to brake them in the first few runs they felt really plasticky to run in, like really cheap. Now the plate is broken in they feel great. If not for the not so durable outsole I would wear them a lot more often.
      It's an expensive hobby, I'm lucky my employer picks up a lot of bills that are sport related, if I had to buy every shoe myself I'll probably not have bought them at this point.

    I have spikes for real speed and sprint during training. Do you recommend them for warm-up and the parts of athletic training without spikes? zowas workouts with slower paces?

    • @jasparvowden
      @jasparvowden  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yes I've actually found that the more I run in them, the more versatile they really are. I actually really like them for long runs now of all paces, even on slower long runs. But they perform the best on road and treadmill for fast intervals or tempo runs

    I find the Lone Peak to be more narrow than the Escalante, Torin and Superior. The sizing is so bad.

    • @jasparvowden
      @jasparvowden  Před rokem +1

      Interesting, I find the lone peak to be one of the most comfortable fits out of all Altra shoes I've tested. It feels like a much more comfortable version of the superior

      @@jasparvowden Interesting! I have Lone Peak 7 in US9 and Vanish Tempo in US9.5 and I find them about the same length-wise.

    • @jasparvowden
      @jasparvowden  Před 25 dny +1

      Yeah I've actually found recently I've needed to go up to a US 10 on new shoes. I've been wearing Vibrams and Altras for years but maybe my feet are still unfucking themselves from years of wearing bad footwear as a kid 🤣
      It's difficult to find the right size especially with the slim, standard, and original fit. I find the fits are the same length but the difference in toe box height and width of the different shoes can change the feel of the fit quite a lot. After wearing them more frequently I think you're right, it probably is safe to go up half a size if you're comparing an original fit to a slim fit. Thanks for the input mate! Cheers
