It was a 5 🌟 every main event on Smackdown then,

Yep and it wasn’t even close. The Smackdown Six was 100x more entertaining than watching HHH’s reign with Evolution.
Eddie’s “addiction” promo at Brock Lesnar is one of those all-time moments. You truly felt every word of it. It was real.

As a Latino bullied by Caucasian people and as a former addict, it hit my soul different looking back at the promo. As a kid I still felt his energy and the emotion, but now it’s like I feel he was fighting the same battle so many people fight and that it hurts that he’s gone but i find solace in knowing that he got better before he passed

The Smackdown 6 had 6 of the greatest wrestlers ever. Top 2 technicians, the greatest high flyer, up and coming Edge, and a super worker in Chavo. Smackdown still has a place in my heart.

As a kid who didn’t have cable and smackdown was my show by default, I am so thankful for the 6 and the many others who made smackdown just as big!
That 2 Out of 3 Falls match between Edge/Rey vs. Angle/Benoit on SmackDown is an all-time classic. SmackDown was great at the time, and not just because it was wrestling-centered, the matches were actually PPV quality weekly. The cult love for it was completely justified because the matches were great with ring psychology.

I watched that WrestleMania with a mixed crowd of Latinos and White dudes, and we all popped so unbelievably hard for that finish. I cant believe its not more popular. It was literally part of his gimmick, and we loved him for it.

Kurt was right! SMACKDOWN was the show for great wrestling! Such a special time.
I remember when the brand split was first enacted, Smackdown was seen by the internet wrestling community as the superior show. While Smackdown was heavily praised, Raw was seen with disdain because it was dominated by Triple H and his "reign of terror" where he supposedly buries other wrestlers.
What was (and, ironically, still is... see Gunther going to Raw for, i'Mma say it like this, Edge, who was on his way out) annoying was when the draft went like this: "SOme guy's doing pretty well on Smackdown? Let's put him on raw, possibly have him do little else, and smackdown gets somebody who's been floundering on raw!"
Yeah what a time. I began to hate Raw at the time, but was hyped up for SmackDown.

Angle and Benoit had some stellar matches during the Smackdown 6. Those 2 guys brought back wrestling to WWE.
Kurt's been through a lot. For the business and put his body through hell for Vince and the fans. Glad he survived. We do recover.
The smackdown 6 were world class so much better than what raw was doing then
The finish makes that match 100%. If you over-analyze it, yeah okay, they could have gotten the boot off cleaner, but story-wise and character-wise, they couldn’t have come up with a better finish. Most importantly, it gave Eddie a way to cheat while still being the babyface by out-smarting Kurt

Me and my friend met Kurt once. My friend asked Kurt who's your best friend in WWE. He brought up Big Show and Eddie. But then started talking about how him and Eddie are always hanging out and fighting each other like their brothers.

The mount rushmore of wrestling is always people like Hulk hogan ric flair the rock stone cold undertaker john cena shawn michaels bret hart so on and so on but there's no doubt in my opinion that when it comes to in ring technical athletes Kurt is number one.
Eddie came up with the most creative spots and they fit his gimmick perfectly. RIP Latino Heat.

Actually the finish to Eddie vs Kurt match was one of a kind
A lot of people assume that because Kurt was an Olympic wrestler, that made him a better pro wrestler. Actually, it could have made things harder. Kurt was trained in how to win matches legitimately, not about psychology or how to construct a match move for move. The moves might be similar, but why you’re doing them are completely different. Granted, that’s why he didn’t just go from winning Olympic gold in 1996 to joining WWF. He had to obviously go through some training to learn how to construct and call matches. You might know how to play the notes, but you need to know why they need to be played. His transition was impressive. You can’t just take a guy directly from amateur wrestling and make them a pro wrestler. It’s a different mindset.

What s great match that was. Great buikduo. The editing. Both World title matches were great. Many solid matches. 20 was pretty solid show.

I wonder what Kurt Angle was thinking when he said ALL OF THEM were going to be in the hall of fame. Chavo despite not being treated very well by the WWE would eventually get inducted, either as part of a group (Guerrero family or the tag-team Los Guerreros) or maybe even himself alone. I don't think Chris Benoit would ever get inducted because he's way too controversial and a very sensitive topic in the professional wrestling community.
And he shouldn’t be. I'm not sure why this is even a conversation for some wrestling fans, as much as you want to separate the art from the person. Chris Benoit is still seen as a monster who killed his family. There is no way WWE ever wants to associate themselves with someone like that.

The Smackdown Six was great. 5/6 of them became world champions and 4/6 of them are in the Hall of Fame. One person obviously can't be in the Hall of Fame or mentioned on TV but would've been if he didn't go out the way that he did.
It was really big of Kurt Angle to say Benoit deserves to be in the HOF without even naming him.

Technically, Chavo was a world champion if you consider the ECW heavyweight title to be a "world champion.""
@@victorapellegrinosc I mean, I guess. It was WWE's version of ECW. Even Matt Hardy was ECW Champion at one point during the iteration.
I think there really is something to this format from this era, because it really allows for some good variety.
Having one show focused on storyline driven stuff with more angles and "entertainment" while having the other show be focused mainly on action , being more work rate focused allows for good variety. It's a really underrated model
Of course, we haven't had a group of wrestlers quite like the Smackdown Six since then, but it definitely feels like it would be a great model to emulate for any wrestling company in the future.
To some extent AEW did it with Dynamite and Rampage, before Rampage went full lame duck.

I always loved that finish to the match, it was a smart finish. It showed the Eddie Guerrero character would go to any lengths to trick Kurt Angle to beat him.

I was AT Wrestlemania XX, at The Garden, in New York, and I don't remember their match at all.
I remember The Rock and Sock Connection, I remember Lesnar/Goldberg's trash match and I remember the Main Event, with Benoit winning the title

@@souryabanik0907 I could actually see him getting in eventually, either as a group induction as part of the Guerrero family, or as an individual when they're short of names and need a midcarder who they're on decent terms with to fill a spot.
It doesn’t really take a whole lot to get into the WWE HOF. I think in the case of Chavo, him being a Guerrero and having won championships himself, would be enough to put him to the HOF.
Obviously of course, what would disqualify someone being put in the HOF is if they did something too awful to get put into it. It does make me wonder how people would feel if they put Vince in.
Edit: It seems at this point that Vince will most likely never get put in the HOF.
Chavo will get in for sure in my opinion. He does a lot for wrestling outside of the WWE.

The best was when Kurt was in the wheelchair, and Eddie told him he could have his cousin Chewie put hydraulics on it.
Eddie had soo much left to do in wresting that we never got to see. You can watch any of his matches and see the energy in him every time.

No, i think he tanked the WWE good enough, we didn't need to see more of this. Worst drawing WWE Champion of all time, drew the worst buyrate in 6 years in 2004 and even in 2005 managed to draw the worst buyrate that year a contender. He caused enough damage, it was good for the WWE that it stopped.

basically when eddie guerrero died, and the muhammad hassan controversy, I guess that killed WWE, and batista and cena being traded from each wwe promotion brand
@@theonlygoodonehere2259I felt like it was a lot of things coming together that made WWE uninteresting for me after watching it for almost 15 years. A lot of big names just disappeared. Eddie and Benoit died, Brock left, Angle left, Christian left, Jericho took a long time off. And suddenly the roster was in shambles and we got guys like Carlito and Chris Masters being in an elimination chamber for the world title and stuff like that. At the same time people were pushed that I didn't care for like Cena, JBL, or to an extent Batista. That's when I really let go of WWE and started watching other promotions because I was still a wrestling fan.

Smackdown 6 was goated
There was the Smackdown Six but to me throughout the original Brand Extension, the true Smackdown Four Horsemen were Undertaker, Rey, Kurt, Eddie.
I mean, if we weren’t putting it down to six wrestlers, then the others that would be included are Lesnar, Undertaker, Big Show, and John Cena.
Was a brilliant finish. No one seen that coming
In regards to Benoit, when the initial question rose after the tragedy about a potential HOF induction - most people based it as recognition for his in-ring career and for it to never be wiped away. But come on, in this day and age with the Network, CZcams, Wikipedia, Social Media, True Crime Podcasts, even the WWE Encyclopedia - Chris Benoit is going NOWHERE! ... A 10 minute ceremony and a couple of speeches about the man is not necessary anymore to truly acknowledge anyone's body of work. Just google him whenever you want and see for yourself. And this is coming from a fan of the guy's career. He doesn't NEED to be in the HOF, that's what matters nowadays.

I loved the finish to Kurt and Eddie's match so much. Just watching Kurt fume at Eddie winning by cheating at Mania by loosening the boot is a clutch moment and memeworthy for the time. Also, they both were phenomenal wrestlers and made early 2000s wwe smackdown the peak of technical wrestling and grappling matches.
Smackdown had the best matches. Let's talk about big show vs brock and breaking the ring. Kurt angle vs undertaker. Kurt angle vs Benoit Kurt vs brock in a iron man match. Just so many great ones

"Every one of those guys will be in the hall of fame if there not already" there are only two members of that group not in the hall of fame. Chavo Guerrero who in my opinion was the most underrated wrestler with in the time he was there and Chris Benoit. And do to what he did he will never be in the hall of fame and doesn't deserve to be.
I hope Angle is right and we really can one day be mature enough about it all to include Chris Benoit, the wrestler, into the Hall Of Fame despite what Chris Benoit, the man, did in his private life right before his death.

The ending of the match always made sence. He explained it exaxtly how i felt.
I remembered watching WM 20 and seeing that finish in their match and I thought it was the perfect ending for Eddie to beat Kurt. Unlike most rollups, this one told a story that went with Eddie's lie, cheat and steal gimmick. There will never be another Eddie Guerrero he was so smooth and I wish he were still here.
