PS Did you notice the easter egg? :D - Hry
Hey guys I've been pointed out a few errors and apologies for that.
At 2:17, what I meant was If you pull too *late* , there will not be enough time to turn, and you'll be hit. If you pull too *early* you will have lost too much energy, and you'll be hit
At 5:00, the beaming animation is with an assumption that you're speeding up, meaning the missile has to adjust its course from your acceleration.
At 8:41, what I meant was that the radars can only track things moving toward or away from them when there is the ground/water in the background.
Again thanks for watching, and I hope that this was helpful!
cool
now how do i even use flares to begin with
@@kebabit707 when holding throttle, press y on oculus touch controllers, for knuckles and Vive I have no idea
Good video bud. I thought my chaff was just special needs… turns out it was my subpar dodge-missile skills. Dive, duck, dip, dive and dodge.
@@pizzaman10203 bit late, but for Vive you hit the menu button at the top, above the touch pad
@@gagekieffer772 Yeah.
Do tax evasion tutorial plz
Constantinia Smith 😂😂
Plsssssssss
hahahahah you can do taht in argentina or you wont be able to survive the ludicrous taxes
Thanks for this comment lol
😄
This is a lot better than just hoping it will miss. Thank you
Lol!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
You mean there are other strategies other than hoping?
I was relying only on thoughts and prayers before I saw this
On radar missiles, before you try any of the high g turns TURN THE G LIMITER OFF
It's almost impossible to evade the missiles with it enabled since it limits the rate at which your plane can turn, good luck evading!
how do you turn it off?
@@Smilldon The plane he's using in the video has a switch on the left near the throttle
The majority of radar-guided missiles can be evaded with a high g pull with the g limiter on. Additionally, planes will take over-g damage in the next update (i assume, it is currently in the test branch.)
The only exceptions I recall are:
MAD-4 missile
SAAW missile
Long range super cruise missile on the NMSS cruiser
FLKM-100 missile
And the aim-120/120d can be a bit iffy at times, although doable.
All other radar guided missiles can be easily evaded with a simple high g pull, oftentimes only requiring around 7 gs to do so.
while yes the g limiter can still be on, it only really works from medium to long range. Ive had quite a few encounters where quickly turning off g limiter has saved my butt from a missile.
Also if you’re flying the av-42c, I recommend putting the aircraft into VTOL mode while making a high g turn. Helps kill off speed faster, making the missile have to work harder.
Current update makes it so where if you do a high g maneuver with it off, it instantly drops all ordinance, shreds wings, and really fucks you up.
Notching in particular has been extremely useful against long-range radar missiles
you cant really notch sam radars but if its an active radar missile variant than it will work. terrain cover is best for long range radar missiles
*Im just getting ptsd from the missile lock alert*
*missile lock alert*
"Welp, here I go dying again"
i get pissed because the lock alert is basically telling me "HAHHAHA YOU'RE DYING" knowing i suck shite at evading
"Chaff, flare... Chaff, flare"
*BOOOM*
😭
The fact notching works is a testament to how much freaking effort that one dev put into the little details!!!!
I Wonder if it works because the missiles track realistically or there's a notching mechanic hardcoded in the game. Makes zero difference but I'm curious
Or do what I do, freak out because you don't know what the alert is and just spin around like a maniac
yeaaaaa i tried this and it works 100% must try
just pull eject
@@LOKSTED yeah I've done that
Thank you for this.
I suck evading missiles so I usually just carry a heavy load of sidewinders and shoot them down lmaoooo
same lmao
I didn't know that was an option.
grab the Aim126 Anti radar missile and just lock on to their anti radar lmfao
Your welcome coming from jrllotak2’s brother
@@wiljanserrano6545 tell him he's awesome
The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't.
In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was.
The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.
Agreed
WOW. That is a long comment, I might send it to jrllotak2. (Because he’s my brother and I have a dm with him of discord) maybe he’ll reply?
It's all fun and games until the missile knows where you are.
Had a stroke, lost brain cells and became a philosopher reading this
I forget who quoted this. I've heard it elsewhere before
Terrain cover has been needed for semi-active radar missiles, because they can re-lock on after they get over the hill, or when you go over the hill, he wasn’t wrong at the time, but they released a new update where that happens
Just use your brain and cover behind the right mountain/cliff. You have to take in mind where the missile is. 😂 terrain masking is the most reliable solution…
Now that i've stopped playing VTOL VR for a while, played DCS, then came back to VTOL VR, I found myself as a much better pilot.
I was able to fight off 3 enemy fighters alone with a damaged F/A-26B, I was only carrying 6 AMRAAMs and 2 sidewinders because I kinda need that TWR
Most of the combat is done in a dogfight due to me understanding when to shoot and when to not, AMRAAMs usually have effective ranges of ~16 miles, so thats when I usually fire now rather than shooting at R-Max to conserve as much missile as possible and have a good chance of hitting the target, missile also goes pitbull VERY quickly in VTOL VR compared to what I was used to in DCS.
in the dogfights, I had to tank an IR missile to the right wing and keep fighting, I didn't know how I managed it, but hey, I did it!
when I returned, I only had 1 AMRAAM left and nearly no fuel from burning all the time, it was a thrill ride!
Excellent tutorial, this makes much more sense in my mind now.
Actually good quality vtol tutorial! good work!
Incredible video, that move about beaming was really interesting in how it works, also this will help a ton when I'm doing missions in VTOL!
I've learn so much from this short video than i had in college.
I keep coming back to this tutorial, 50% for the refreshing on evasion and 50% for the music choice!
This really helped me understand how the missiles work and I've gotten much better at evading. Thanks!
Thx, learnt a lot by this.
Great video! Nice descriptions, made it pretty easy to follow. Take a while to use each method effectively but at least i'm not a sitting duck hoping it will miss.
Jrllotak really showed up, posted the 2 best tutorials for this game, and left. Literally haven’t seen better tutorials from any other channels, and ive only ever seen people reference your content when someone asks how to dodge missiles.
Fantastic tutorial! I would be lost without this
Loved the spontaneous barrel roll
this video is so informative and high quality
Thank you. This is big realistic strategy and tactics
Solid video! Great job.
Thank you for all your work, this is useful af, thank you sir!
Best tutorial out there. Thanks.
This game looks great! I tried lots simulators, and always interested in missile evasion. Too pity I don't have VR gear.
Great video and very helpful, thank you!
This is super simple and helpful! Thank you!
Think I found one of my new fav CZcamsrs keep up the good work
Thanks for the Tutorial! Helped me lots
you're awesome man very helpful!
Extremely useful, I see alot of players have watched this video most likely, you can tell when in PVP lol
this tutorial was actually really good thanks : )
Great, thanks! I can't wait to forget these all next time i hop on vtol!
keep up the great videos man!
Fantastic info! Thanks, man.
Well done!
This is like watching a snake charmer lol. You're just kinda telling the deadly thing coming at you what to do and it just follows along.
Now I can style on my VTOL friends, good vid, thanks
this is such an amazing game. very helpful.
Holy damn this is helpful
thanks for sharing ... !!! Awesome tutorial ...
The most effective way of defeating radar missiles that I've found is to notch and beam, but while doing small S turns and chaffing every time I hit the 90 degree angle on the radar/missile. I haven't had to G-pull a radar missile in a while
It's also important to note that if the missile hasn't gone pitbull (switched to the missile's own radar instead of the radar source), you'll have to notch and chaff the radar instead of the missile.
this helped me a lot thank you
Thanks, good tutorial and good voice!
Ay thanks. This video helped a lot. I am still leahrng but its getting better. Thanks a lot
Thanks for the tutorial, learned a few things I didn't know.
At 9:42, after succesfully notching the missile, you mention it can't see you anymore. This is correct, but if the missile has an on-board radar (and is not depending on the source aircraft's radar on the last stage of flight) it totally can re-acquire lock and redirect course if you are in its cone of detection.
This was not true back when this Video was released.
Thank you so much can't wait to try this. On a side note do you have custom missions you recommend?
Great video I’m ur 300th subscriber
I also recommend everybody who play this game also could try a series game called Energy Airforce/Over G series in PS2/X BOX 360
They also have simple avionics and realitsic aerodynamics. I called it "Light Simulator" instead of shooting games like Ace Combat series or real simulators like DCS or Falcon BMS.
excellent content!!
On point.👍
Awesome tutorial
Nice! really cool intro
Makes it look so easy
the last one is incredible
notching is the coolest mechanic hands down
10/10 video
Wow good stuff
Makes me wanna practise! :D
great vidio dude :D
great video man, I’ll probably still freak out and get hit but at least I know more or less what I’m doing now lol
You make it look so easy D:
Nice video tysm! Ima sub and like
great a video teaching me how to avoid missiles,
that i will never use because i still cannot avoid missiles
you deserve more subs :)
For ir missiles all you need to do is aim your bottom of the craft near the missiles direction and shoot like 1 to 4 flares nothing fancy, if it comes from behind just cut throttle for a few seconds and flare
Awesome intro.
Nice tutorial! I'll definitely make good use of this knowledge. Also, just out of curiosity: what peripheral do you play VTOL VR on? Oculus? Vive? Something else?
Thanks! I play using the Vive
I use an oculus quest with link cable.
Ive come to accept the fact that i can launch 14+ missiles at enemy bases and vehicles, knowing fully well that one of there missiles are going to hit me cuz i suck and dont know how to evade, honestly its a trade in my favor.
Elegant!
Thanks!!
you could also shoot the missiles with your main gun!
i did this in the first campain with 3 anti air cruise things... i was laughing all the way till i bombed one ship and the aa got me xD
The wing flex though
Now we need you to do one on the new heli
CZcams auto subtitles: “hey guys hopefully you enjoyed the video and learn nothing thank you”
BEST
Easiest way in my opinion is when any radar is coming from you head on, just do a corkscrew and dump a few flares and it'll fail to track and miss by a few inches
thanks! i love evading taxes- i mean taxes- i mean missiles now. my whole team asks me how did i evade that tax- i mean missile!
Nice
Would love to see you try out Project: SKYSCAPE
thanks
Instantly better after this woo
My favorite evasion tactic is to do a high g barrel roll towards the missle to burn its fuel and to have more time to dodge
Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much! But I cant find the flares in any plane
They are on the left side of the cockpit for the AV-42 and the F/A-26. Check out the VTOL VR tutorials video and he'll point you out. For the F-45, unless you're on the public testing branch you can't configure them. If you are on the branch, it's in the SMS page.
I have the Vive, so if you have that you press the menu button if you're holding on to the throttle. That will dispense a chaff and/or flare.
@@jrllotak2 thx
Also make it a habit to include switching the g limiter off into your combat/startup checklist.
or just keep it on until you see somebody pinging you on your RWR :)
i just turn it off when going into combat or dogfights
To those who cant do the high G evasions, turn the G limiter off so you can turn as fast as the plane can without being limited
Yup. I always turn it off right away. Not like it prevents g-loc anyway, so you're better off managing it yourself
Great flying too! Hope to see you in the air.
How to do it when CMs are empty: wait for missile to get close (rwr detecting it’) make sure you are able to put 10 Gs into your jet. Once it’s close pull the stick all the way up.
nice great:)
By the way you can turn off your g limiter to pull high g moves easier.
DCS players need to watch this
I still haven’t gotten these down
Dude that was epic i guess ill just die then
This man could avoid the oxygen around himself
Thanks for the tutorial. I had no idea notching was a thing and I accidentally had it happen a few times and I didn't understand how I lost the missile.
Is there any difference between doing this in the jet and doing this in the VTOL?
From what I can tell, notching works the same way for all aircraft
@@musa7563 it should because notching is taking advantage of how pulse doppler radars work an effective of the radar rather than the aircraft.
You say to kill power in the high g section, but I noticed in the combos you didn't kill all your power, and just lowered enough so your afterburners weren't running. Is killing all the power better than just turning off your afterburners or the other way around?
+1
Good eye. I tried to simplify the high g maneuver to just say kill power because of the maximum instantaneous turn rate. By chance you don't know, the maximum instantaneous turn rate is the speed where the maximum g's are possible. At this speed your plane can turn the fastest. However, it only lasts for a moment, and you trade a lot of energy to do it.
In the high g section, I made the assumption that the plane will be faster than the maximum instantaneous turn rate. To reach the max instantaneous turn rate as fast as possible, you would kill power. In an actual battle, the pilot would have to choose whether to kill power, maintain thrust, or put on the burners depending on what speed they are at relative to the max instant turn rate. If they're below the max instantaneous turn rate, the burners should be on.
In the combos section I didn't kill power because I had a lot more time to dodge compared to in the high g section. I've also tried to conserve energy because the map I was playing on continuously fired SAMs at me. And there's also me being scared a missile's coming at me haha.
A bit long of an answer, but I hope it helps!
@@jrllotak2 This helps a lot. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
