This was all about putting it in Kansas' collective face! That was a "U will respect us more than a dot on the map" moment for the Shockers! No fault of theirs, but the 2015 Jayhawks took one for Kansas entire athletic administration due to the "that's what u get for not scheduling us"
Also, what a great announcing team of Marv Albert, Chris Webber, & Len Elmore. Too bad Marv couldn't announce the Regional Final between Kentucky & Notre Dame due to a family emergency and was replaced by Brian Anderson.
I remember this game, mainly because I am a Notre Dame fan, and everybody said that Kansas was the only team that could had prevented a ND/UK Elite 8 matchup. Needless to say (and perhaps ironically enough), Wichita State was our easiest win by far in the entire NCAA tournament run.
Yeah, I agree ND couldn't miss against Wichita. I watched ND's first round game and was surprised they had so much trouble with Northeastern, barely made it out of that one. I didn't realize Wichita has had more Final Four appearances than ND...Pretty crazy.
True to that Randy, but I think u could also couple that with the fact I don't think Wichita St emotionally recovered enough for ND! Them beating Kansas took alot out of the Shockers! Not that they weren't in other aspects ready for ND, but beating Kansas was an historically epic win for them considering the level of disrespect not scheduling them by Kansas! Notre Dame deserved to win don't get me wrong but I don't think the Shockers had fully come down from the Kansas win! Wish they'd (ND) have then beaten Kentucky, but the Irish did expose them by literally taking them to the wire! And I was glad because I thought Kentucky needed tested! And that totally caught up to them against Wisconsin!
