The Foggy Dew is a very, very old Irish song, it being the name of many different versions and ballads throughout history since the 1800s. However the most famous version, and the version used in the video, is one about the Easter Rising 1916, which saw Irish rebels fight against British rule. Although the Easter Rising failed, it would pave the way to later Irish independence in 1922.
