Actually, you can fly helicopters, but you don't have any opportunity to get one. Only if you do some bugs ;) It was a mission where a Heli fly across the sea towards your city and makes a small stop on a building, very close to the bridge. If you get here before him and jump with a bike on the building by doing bumping into the edge of the bridge, you can hijack the Heli.

I had a few slowdowns on the PSP version it does play faster of a memory stick which i did at one point. I think with the PSP version no one really cared cause it's 3D GTA on a portable system but the slowdown on the PS2 was unacceptable since San Andreas ran like butter *compared* to this. I think Rockstar Leeds or North Half assed this port big time and made no optimzations to game.

Just wanted to say on the subject of motorcycles being in GTA 4 even though that game takes place in 2008 and they were supposedly banned in Liberty City by 2001 - Rockstar themselves have explicitly stated that there are three completely separate universes in the series. 1.) The 2D universe, consisting of GTA 1, GTA 2, GTA London 1961, and GTA London 1969, 2.) the 3D universe, consisting of GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and the obscure GTA Advance, and 3.) The HD universe, consisting of GTA 4, Episodes from Liberty City, Chinatown Wars, and GTA V. So the bike ban of the 3D universe that affects GTA 3 doesn't exist in the Liberty City of the HD universe where GTA 4 takes place. A great video though! I'm a big fan, and will continue to watch your content. Quality stuff.

This is one of my favorite gta games, maybe the most forgotten. It doesn’t have as many features as Vice City Stories but it improves on GTA 3 in so many ways like with targeting and aiming, the map, better physics, bikes, better radio, etc. People always complain about no helicopters or no swimming but it never really bothered me, and I can’t say I’ve ever noticed a frame rate issue and I’ve played this game a ton. In 2020 I 100% completed all the PS2 era GTA’s and this is right up there with Vice City as my all time favorites in the series. Also the dirt bike missions are one of the most challenging side quests I’ve ever done in a GTA game, loved them.

There's a PC port that uses Vice City as base. It has all the main story missions, almost all the side missions, options to enable or disable trails and reflections. All the radio stations etc... It's a really well done job. To install it is very easy, you just download it and install it in an empty folder. A lot of modders worked at it, including ThirteenAG, the author of Widescreen Fix for many games. It's name is "liberty city stories remake" or something like that, rn it is in beta 5 but it works very well, faithful to the original

Loved the graphics but pretty boring once you finish the game, I kept on trying to get into impossible places and trying to find a helicopter spawn lmfao.

You can get save files to have the helicopter in the garage (atleast on PSP). Apparently it's possible to steal in one of the missions. The PSP also has a trainer if you can get it working.
Just use controller setting 2 and it uses the helicopter controls for GTA VCS

As a huge GTA fan, who has played all the 3D titles multiple times over the years, I can say they're all good, if not spectacular. But...LCS is probably the weakest (technically III is the weakest by comparison, but it was the first and obviously it was revolutionary for it's time, it just hasn't aged that well) LCS has the least interesting story and protagonist (again, besides Claude and III). It's basically a prequel to the original GTA III, the improved gameplay itself and in-game map inclusion is what makes me say it is technically better. But story wise (which is very important in this particular series of course) it's so mediocre.
Toni has an actual character, unlike Claude who was literally intended to be a reflection of the player themselves, but it's the most basic of all protagonists with actual personalities.
He has no personal inner struggle like Vic Vance or CJ, he's just another generic mob enforcer who happens to be really good at it. His greatest struggles come down to "I gotta help Salvatore!" and anything else he faces is just a distraction. He doesn't even have a great ambition to be a boss himself like Tommy Vercetti. He's happy doing all the heavy work himself, and giving the glory to Salvatore, who's loyalty to him NEVER sways, not even slightly. He never once questions if what he's doing is right. He does some other stuff unrelated to the Leone Family, but just...for money...which he doesn't even really need for anything important (like CJ, Vic, or Tommy). When he's forced to kill his underboss Vincenzo, who betrays him, he doesn't even care or mention it again. His mom tried to kill him like a psychotic bitch, and he just wordlessly shrugs it off and forgives her after he was made. Every huge thing Sal asks him to do (like assassinate the fucking MAYOR of the city, fight a street war with the Diablos, single-handedly wipe out the Sindacco family, and destroy a Yakuza tank surrounded by their guards) he's just like "Okay, whatever, no problem Sal." He doesn't evolve or learn anything new about himself throughout his whole story. It's shocking how hollow and static his character and journey are, and nobody else seems to ever point it out. And the final mission? Easily the dullest and most anticlimactic of all GTA games. Just shoot a bunch of boats, then a heli, and it's over, and the victory is so hollow because you get 500k (which doesn't even matter at that point, and u can only buy guns anyway) and you know where the Leone's are gonna end up in 3 years anyway (with Sal dead, and Toni never heard from again). Still a good game technically speaking, but so mediocre of a GTA game. I just had to vent that.

  • @OfficialFinnTheDiamondKnight35

Helicopters are not accessible in the city considering that the whole city/map is a reuse from III, the buildings don't have roofs. And just like in III, planes are not meant to fly due to 9/11.
Edit: You can find ways to store a helicopter in game, but it'll be a chore to do so.

Uh, you're aware they used the same Liberty City from GTA 3? It's not a brand new rendition, they just updated it, I know because some of the interiors are still there despite the fact you aren't supposed to see them. You can do this with almost any area that had an interior by using the manual aim against the wall of something that was an interior in GTA 3, you'll be able to look through the walls and see them still there. Like the bathroom for Ray's missions...except only the bathroom doors are present...strange, I know and Wong's laundromat and MANY others lol Not to mention the Dodo plane, random code, and txt files are still there from GTA 3. It's the same with Vice City Stories, Rockstar left a lot of interiors in from the previous games in the Stories sections :-) Just letting you know...

And it only looks different because the camera and FOV are different. The FOV really shits me and the camera is too flat, especially when driving tall vehicles you have to tilt the camera downward to see more in front of you, but can't do it regularly because you crash very easily anyway. It looks like wax/plastic whereas III, VC, and SA (PS2) don't.

If you're gonna play this game, play it on PCSX2. (PS2 Emulator) - that way you benefit from 1080p+ resolution AND no slowdown. (Depending on your PC of course)
8:58 Also - GTA 4 is a "reboot" of the franchise, set in another "universe" (The HD Era) so any rules or stuff said in GTA 3's 3D Era, do not apply to GTA 4's.

Anyway, I knew this was basically the city and activities from GTA 3 for the most part, but I'm surprised at how visuals are better than GTA3 (even if it's 5 years newer, it was still originally a PSP title). Also, there's soooo much content in this game.
Like besides the actually full blown story, there are tons of collectibles, full blown side missions and vehicle side missions. Also stunts, packages and businesses (car/bike dealer? Lol).

15:05 I would disagree for anyone to not pick it up (considering they have played the other GTA titles). I played the PS2 version a long time back and would still prefer slow down over the clunky touch controls of the mobile port.
