Garry was taught the game by Cloughie and it shows. It is a simple game at heart and it’s an interesting counter point to the ludicrous levels of coaching today that robs a lot of players of the ability to improvise. Rugby Union has it alot worse but for instance - I’m shocked at modern defenders inability to do the basics of the job.

Gary's point about Nuno playing negatively would have stood up if it wasn't for the fact most of those games he reeled off were under Cooper. 😂🙈

poor stats for a 10, needs better end product but more a mental issue than a talent one I think
100% behind Gary on MGW. It's overrated. Let's offload him, make a decent profit and move on.

I think we are worried that if Sells gets injured we have no credible replacement, same with the two Strikers, we need a back up in both positions, but we must also off load Vlad and Turner.
How come no one can spell 'Garry' ?

Murillo is Forest's MOTM 6 times out of 10. Gibbs-White is Forest's MOTM 1 time out of 10. I agree with Garry here.
I think the reason Forest didn't vote against VAR is that if they don't have it, they will give the big six clubs even more dodgy decisions their way.
I think 14th would be a good target. Compete with Bournemouth and Fulham. How are Bournemouth so far above us the last 2 seasons?
Have a look at the last 25 years and the trajectory of the 2 clubs and how many seasons they've spent in the PL. We need a few years to catch up with clubs like them.

Gary’s obviously done a lot for Forest, but he talks like we’re watching football in the 90’s. He’s so out of touch.
Murilllo all day long but cant see it
Birtles absolutely rambled throughout this. Nothing insightful, about as useful as talking to the old boy in the corner down the pub. Can almost see Lewis cringing whenever he spoke.
He shouldn’t be on talking about the current Forest team now.

Birtles shouting down the only woman on the panel, taking a microphone and talking over her (and she was making a good point!). All because he’s allergic to flair in football. Time to hang it up Gary.
Really good debate between Gary and Emily re MGW and Murillo. They are both right in their own ways. I agree with Emily that Murillo is more replaceable. I agree with Gary that possibly, even for a defender, Murillo's value ceiling is higher. BUT the value they both can have before Forest have to sell them to a larger club is about the same (but Murillo will give more profit). But Gary is spot on that MGW is simply not at the level he should be at. Gary is right about Elanga vs MGW. 5 goals each, 10 assists for MGW vs Elanga's 9 BUT MGW played 35 games (90 mins worth) vs Elanga's 27 games. MGW needs to be more consistently across all games (not in terms of passion and work rate, but output), and yes, he needs to focus on the more simple passes when they will suffice, not flicks and tricks. MGW had more shots that any other player in the squad (70) but is only getting 18.6% on target. Yes, he is the heartbeat of the team, but the basics need to be done better (shooting) and more consistently. He will get there, I love him and don't want to sell him, but he is not walking on water at the moment and needs to improve if he is going to get a top6 move (unless a club is taking a punt) and to have any chance of getting into the England squad.
Birtles is a nice fella but god he can be painful to listen to sometimes

No one was more overrated than Gary Birtles
Terrific player but not a great analyst in my opinion. Burnley, Luton and Sheff Utd at home games that he mentions were all under Cooper.
Having a laugh, one of the best at leading the line we've had. Not a flair player but worked his socks off for 90 mins every game, always available to receive the ball, good goal scorer and creator. Most underrated if anything, ridiculous comment!
