I’m Ethiopian and I speak Amharic. I didn’t know this song until my aunt played it at parties or family gatherings with her husband. And it was played many times after that. I’m 2019 the best thing happened which was their 25th year anniversary and it was an amazing surprise for them. And she had her cousin play the song multiple times. And obviously I sang along since I now love it cause of her.
