I'm a blue through and through, but despite their success at a time when the money started rolling in, that was only the start of when the financial gap started to develop. The gap was still able to be bridged with investment. Now, the gap has gotten to a point where there's a massive divide.
I'm not saying all of the measures that are being put in place these days by the league are right, but that there wasn't as big a need for it back then.
No-one was ever going to stop it before it got out of hand, because $ = greed. But, it would have been nice if it was curved when it did start to get out of hand.
In my opinion, it was when we started calling them the "sky four" that the financial gap should have been limited, well before our owner came on board.

@@Cynical_Jim I don't think you can do that each year, maybe only after purchase of a new club or restructuring of the club. The reason is that spending more than revenue leads to no benefit to investors. It's like starting a Royal Mail business and each year you keep adding money into the business to purchase delivery vans and employ more people while not generating business. It's not sustainable. Just like Chelsea after spending a billion on players, the next season there were starting to offload players. Revenue will not sustain the expenditure and investors money will be tied to zero return assets.
The reason why the Premier League getting involved is to try to level the playing field because someone's small revenue is someone else jackpot.
At no point, ever, have he said they could. For a average Intelligent person its a given and doesnt even have to be mentioned. Its only the Joker running this channel who thinks its an issue here.

What I get from what you are saying is that these owners there are not investing, but it's more like a recreational activity.
