Endarthe's free video redemption involves getting a max essence Dehaka. Even after level 15, Dehaka will continue gaining essence. This video is to check what that limit is, where Dehaka will stop gaining essence and health.

Essence cap is 65535 = 2^16 - 1 because that's the the highest number that can be represented by an unsigned 16-bit binary number.
Max hp = 600 base + 0.75 * 65535 essence = 600 + 49151 = 49751 hp.

The essence limit is interesting, but actually not super surprising. 65535 is the highest number you can store in 2 bytes (16 bits), since 2^16 is 65536, and you start counting from 0. I'm glad to see that the programmers didn't let the number overflow back to 0, even though I don't think they ever anticipated anyone going that high :D

and to see if a word or int were used.
luckyly for CTG the programmers used a word, int would have been 2^32... :D this game would have taken a lot longer....

@@BorisJensen they could've just set up some kind of impenetrable defense then try and let it run overnight. I dont believe in such things, but it's ctg we are talking about.

Vote blizzard to increase to 32 bit so we can see 2m essence
32-bit is in the billions. 4B for unsigned.
Just imagine Blizzard publishes a patch for some other stuff, and without telling anybody they change the int(16) -> int(32) and them someone suggests CtG to retry this mission ... I wonder at what point CtG will just give up.

The limit is the size of the word type in c. thats 2 bytes of data with a maximum size of 2^16. you were lucky it wasnt an int (2^32) :D
also i was curious if it would overflow and create glitches, or reset to 0, but it didnt. nice.

I think the length of a single game is also limited to 65535 seconds which is around 18 hours.
This is ridiculous. What would be more ridiculous would be covering an entire map in Karax P1 cannons. Maybe the rakshir mission?

Apparently, the amount of essence is initially assigned WORD data type which is 2^16 maximum, 65535 (developers didn't assume there will be such an experiment and no sane Dehaka will ever go for more than that :)

Why are you eating those enemies who have low HP? It shall be much easier and faster if you will eat units with full or high HP.
Less hp = faster cooldown with all of the benefits of a full hp unit (health and passive buffs).
Hit some cap?
