    There’s so much to love about this hobby! I myself had to figure out a way to collect that would be a challenge but not financially bankrupt me. The hunt for the cards is what I’m really paying for once I obtain them it’s cool but the Hunt is what it’s all about! Thanks for the stories

      It’s so easy to spend too much and even overpay. The hunt to get the cards you want at a price that you are happy with is a good feeling. I’ve overpaid on a bunch of cards because I wasn’t patient and impulsive.

      I understand about not bankrupting yourself buying the cards the cards you want for the Unique collection. The only way I could have done "My GOATS" outside of the 4 big sports was through the the cash I got from the Cal Ripken PC Chris bought from me. I had to buy raw of most of the cards. Some of those Sports Kids Illustrated were expensive. (Mia Hamm and Michael Phelps) to name 2 of them that were expensive. The Richie McCall player that had no cards I could find. The one pictured is a 3D phone Card. There were a few Chris mentioned in his prior videos. (Dan Brandman Cricket card). Some of them GOAT card are not graded. My vision is to get them graded when PSA has some realistic prices per card. I don't really care what grade they would get. Just haven the them slabbed is enough for me.

    Great collections, and great video!! I started back collecting in 2020, I collected when i was a kid in 90s. Cards were 99 cents a pack at store. Zion entrigued me to buy cards,. I got on ebay and bid on 19-20 prizm hangers thinkin there was a possibility of pullin a 200k card. Instead of continuing to bid i changed my mind and decided to buy Micheal Jordan remebering how hard it was to get a jordan out of a pack I bought singles under $30. I bought cheap lots, I have a nice 87, 88 and all the beam teams, and then i have the cool inserts like hoops scream, and heroics not really any high end cards. The gold medalion upperdeck 3 card gold insert set, metal universe a nice looking retro set that i cherish. I just set all my diferent jordan cards up and look at them all together, and it brings back memories of my child hood collecting days. I have done card breaks of ultra modern BKB alot and flipped raw cards on ebay, miraculous results you couldnt imagine the luck ive had. I can sell all my ultra modern but no way could i sell my jordans. .......Thats what collecting is all about finding that collection of cards that are priceless to me specifically thats about more than the money they are worth... I had been trying to buy a mj power in the key, and had to return them because the cards were trimmed 3 times from 3 sellers. Chipping on the back of that card is the worst of any card i have experience and its really hard to find one thats not, but my search will continue until I find the right one. To complete my beautiful artistic 90s retro set of jordan inserts.

    Love seeing the unique collections! For affordability, I love the the G.O.A.T collection for the non major 4 sports. I know it may be on the pricey side but consider swapping out the Ronaldo for a Pele. Look forward to the next batch, maybe I’ll submit mine. Thanks

      Yeah that was one of my ideas. I just couldn't afford one of his. The PC I based around the players who I have watched. The "Brandman" and Owens were two examples I didn't see play. I couldn't resist getting the Owens card. There are so much history concerning him performance at the Olympics. Like performing Olympics when Hitler attended. Just think how much Hitler hated Jews. I wonder how much he distained seeing a black man winning a gold medal. That feat is inspiring and important part of history for sure.

    I think what Carlyle is doing is fantastic - I have run into issues trying to stand-up and organize my own site in a similar manner.

    Years ago I had a PC, since lost in a move, that was centered around players I had met in person. So.e of the players I couldn't afford much from their playing days, but I would find oddball cards or tribute cards that came out in the 70s-90s. So while there wasn't really a ton of value to the cards, I did have several cards of every player I have met outside of some minor league players who never made it and therefore only had minor league cards, which I managed to find over the years.
    Collection included cards of Mays, Berra, Brock, Griffey Jr & Sr, Benito Santiago, Bernie Williams, Dawson, Pettitte, Pat Kelly, Dave Silvestri, Matt Stairs, Bagwell, Albert (at the time I met him, Joey) Belle, Knoblauch, Scott Erickson (remember him?), Brock, Gerald Williams, JT Snow, countless other players who came through Albany-Colonie either as a member of the Yankees AA team at the time or one of the opposing teams. I was lucky enough to grow up about 15 minutes away from their home park so from 1988-1993 I went to roughly 75% of all AC Yankee Home Games (the bulk from 88-91 and a few games here and there the latter years) and actually became known by the players who were there. One little story I have is on a vacation to Pennsylvania when I was about 11, my family went to Reading to see a game between the Phillies AA squad and the AC Yankees. We were just to th infield side of the visitors dugout watching BP when suddenly Bernie Williams (Not yet a very well known player and far removed from the fantastic player he would become) ran up to where we were seated, called me and my sisters names and asked what on earth we were doing there. He stood there talking b to us for a couple minutes and after the game brought us a couple balls signed by a handful of players. Bernie is a great guy so even though they have nearly zero value, I will buy every Bernie Williams card I can get my hands on and he ended up being the one guy from that old PC that I continued collecting.
    Cheers and thanks for the informative and fun vids

    This has nothing to do with the current subject, however, I’d like to ask you if you prefer putting sets in binders or 800 count boxes? Love your channel man! Good stuff.

      I personally do not like binders, so I would choose an 800 count box. But that’s just my personal preference

    • @benb.469
      @benb.469 Před 2 lety +1

      It's easier than it seems. I buy/trade with other collectors and find the rest on eBay. Most current players can be found under $10. I used to get them myself at games and the yearly fan fest. But I don't have time to go to games anymore and the fan fest has been canceled since COVID, so I've had to get a little creative!
