Remember what happened to KD when GS rushed him back after an Achilles surgery in the Finals against Toronto. Out the entire next season. Unlike KD, Embiid is coming back.

An Achilles and meniscus tear are not the same. KD was clearly rushed back but Embiid was given 6-8 weeks to rest which is the recommended time line and he took the entire 8 weeks. He opted for the surgery for that specific reason.

I can see why a player as talented as Gil never really maxed out his potential. Arguably head to head he is a better player than DWade, however the NBA legacies are not even comparable. Winning is not only about winning the tangibles (i.e. the championship) is about making those small wins and putting a dent each time you do it so when eventually the flood gates do open, you able to take full advantage no matter what the circumstances because you know how to win in every single way (mentally, physically, small or big). I can guarantee you in the 80s, MJ knew in the short term Pistons were better than the Bulls, and no matter how many times he got knocked down and beaten up, he kept on coming back for more including playing through injury even when the odds clearly were stacked against him and his Bulls. Once he finally broke through it was a wrap for the whole league. Embiid is talented enough and dominate enough to have that same impact on the league but it starts with having the "want-to-win-no-matter-what" mentally first before guarantees of a strong team.

They can still get the 6th seed but even if they don’t I like their chances vs any of the top teams in the East if he comes back and picks up where he left off. I agree with McCants. The Bucks are on and off. A few games, they look like the best team in the NBA, then the next couple games, they look like they don't know what they're doing out there. The Sixers have some pieces to help Embiid, for the time being, if they draw the Bucks in a series. Injuries as well as coaching issues with the Bucks have plagued their consistency.
