11 vehicles. 1 fatality 10 injured. This is massive😢please slow down and enjoy your life
I missed this aaccident by 15 minutes. The contruction area wasn't marked appropriatly in my opinion. They closed off the left turn with no markings or warnings so that the straight forward lane was mixed with vehicles that wanted to go straight and vehicles that wanted to do a left turn. The vehicls wanting to do the left turn held up all the vehicles who wanted top go staight while they had a green light so it made them try to swrve to the next lane over to catch the green light while cars on the far lane were speeding through not wanting to let people merge lanes to get i front of them (I guess out of fear of missing the green light) I merged to the far lane when I thought it was safe but almost got clipped by a truck speeding through and then I continued to merge then the car infront of me stepped on the gas to merge to the next lane nearly almost making me run in to him. As I drove past the intersection I knew someone was going to die today because it was so obviouse how wrecklace the road construction pourly set up their site with zero risk assessment and a supervisor should have spotted the hazard so easy with all the near accidents that nearly occured just what I seen driving up to wehere they were working. I from a mile away as I was nearing the intersection I seen cars almost getting hit from trying to merge over the the other lane because of the mixture of vehickes on the one lane wanting to go strait and make a left turn at the intersection. I guess it was 15 minutes after I passed the intersection was when this accident happened and I seen the result of it 40 minutes later when I drove back. It was so stupid! how are you going to have one lane with two seperate lights at different time settings one for left turn and one to go straight all be in the same lane while cars randamomly in line held up at a green light mixed in with randome cars in teh same lane looking at a red left turn arrow waiting for it to turn green all in the SAME lane. Why didnt they just make that close off that middle lane making it a left turn lane with appropiate markings or close the laft turn lane down completly so the drivers have to drive a couple of blocks down the road to make a left turn. I'm so annoyed with the of the pour decisions these road workers made today.
Thanks for the info.
Hopefully someone sues the county or state for this.
Yeah, not buying that. Speed was a factor, that dump truck was unable to stop (wasn't maintaining a safe distance). People just simply drive too fast, are impatient around construction zones and concerned about where THEY want to go and save any minute they can. Easy to make suggestions after the fact. Slow down or leave extra early, everyone has someone to be.
@@ericcarson342 this is a 55 mph posted speed limit hwy and i see people going atleast 80 on it everyday.
look at the front end damage on the driver side of the dump truck. I wouldnt doubt it if a car or the truck was stuck in the left lane and miscalculated the speed and distance of the dumptruck and tried to switch the the other lane leading to the dump truck colliuding with the merging vehicle.this is what happened to me with a truck pulling a horsetrailer just 15 or 20 minutes before this fatal accident.
I used to travel through santa rosa on my trips north through the redwoods.Traffic was pretty bad there. Think I'll use a different way in the future, (if there is one), or go through it at 3am. A lot of speeding and the worst, "tailgating",. People go fast in their two tons of steel like little ducks in a row with no concept of the laws of physics should anything go wrong. Pure gambling. Prayers to so many going through this.
I've driven all over, and sonoma county drivers completely missed the "maintain a safe following distance" memo. Not sure why but people follow people extremely close here. "One car length at freeway speeds" close. It's surprising these type of large fatal pileups don't occur more often here.
@@samwinglewich2133 The do it in part because heaven forbid,..someone might get in front of them if there's a space. Humans become like territorial beasts behind the wheel. Add to that - the public has a become a pressure cooker, (by design),. Don't even look at anyone on the road or they might blow their top. I'm serious too!
My condolences God be with the families ✝️ Rest in peace ✝️ God bless everyone in the accident in your recovery ✝️🕊️🇺🇸
So many fatal crashes in the Bay this week. Sorry for all the victims
Stop looking at your phones while you are driving.
Slow down Santa Rosa!
its the freeway into a highway transition which makes it so dangerous, they should make this a bridge overpass or underpass for this intersection
The construction work at the corner of Fulton and Hwy 12 dramatically changed the flow of traffic. These changed conditions very much contributed, or even directly caused this tragic accident.
I had gone through the intersection earlier in the morning and had to hit my brakes hard all because of the construction work.
How can an inanimate object cause an accident? If there's construction you're supposed to slow down. By looking at it people were driving very fast.
And it was A big rig that didn't stop at the light and hit all those cars. If you would've actually listened you'd know that. But keep blaming anything but drivers.
And that construction work is going on for years I believe? Correct me if I am wrong
@@reflectionOfLyf I drive this route frequently. This morning the changes in traffic flow due to a right turn lane closure were unique and unexpected. Like I said, I had to hit my own brakes hard about 50 minutes before the accident. I saw the accident on my way back east and knew immediately what probably started the chain of events. Again tragic.
Driving carelessly is the norm of the times
Super ego drivers are A- 🕳️ for disaster.
Many dump truck drivers only have a Class B license. Had the dump truck driver possessed a Class A driver license in this particular instance might have made the critical difference, in any case poor driving habits and speed directly contributed to the overall cause of this horrible accident scene in my opinion.
Looking a quarter mile ahead is part of the driving test. And visibility is not the problem when in a truck.
But looking at your cellphone is more important. He was on his phone I guarantee it.
Too bad people won’t put down their stupid phones, stop speeding, following too closely, and drive distracted!!! 🤷🏼♂️
Speed Speed Speed .
Can you imagine how irresponsible you have to be to not pay attention to stopped traffic when you're driving a 25 ton vehicle?
Mark West springs all over again
That’s the worst road, and Porter Creek toward Calistoga. I don’t miss it.
Sure would be helpful to travelers if you would say the location of the intersection or area specifically rather than Highway 12 in Santa Rosa 1:27
Hwy 12, westbound, approaching Fulton Rd.
Does it matter? Drive safe always. And again I say always!!!
@@davidwright873 Yes it matters. Some areas are worse and one needs to be especially careful.
@@davidwright873 of course location matters, especially when you use that road daily
@@davidwright873 of course! If you drive on that road daily, good to know intersection to avoid. Not rocket science, clear communication.
Some final destination stuff there! 😢
Scary.
This is why insurance is high
No it's not. Insurance is high because it's state mandated and monopolistic.
@@fleurishadvisors232 so you don't think that insurance rates rise due to the number of claims they receive?
@middleguy1776 No I don't. Insurance companies make money because people have to buy their product. They don't pay claims anymore unless they're forced to by law and even then often by suing. Insurance companies used to make money through safe investments now they make money through grifting and gouging.
@@fleurishadvisors232 that's not true. And show me evidence of price gouging please. Because that's illegal in California.
Everyone drives too fast. That’s a reason why your insurance is going up, people.
Caused by poor traffic control in construction zone ?
No. Caused by negligence and speeding. There is a traffic signal @ Fulton with at least 1/2 mile CLEAR visibility looking to the west.
You should always slow down in construction zones that's just common sense. People just don't give a dam about anybody but they self anymore. How would people like it if someone drove fast and reckless where they are working they wouldn't like it. But I guess it's easier to hit someone then slow down it might cost them a couple of seconds if they slow down. Then someone doesn't make it home. To there family anymore
What happened I live here. I swear so many dumb drivers in SR lately
The quality of drivers in the Bay Area has dropped generally, especially so after 2020.
Some people never learn...
Here come the lawyer's!!!))))))))))
Trucks nedd to slow down
Bidenomics is working
💙🌊
A big rig speeding, shocker.
He didn’t stop in time…speeding…not sure about that pal. He wasn’t paying attention for sure.
