  • This video shows a 7 year old Warmblood x Arabian mare who we suspect suffers from equine gastric ulcers due to her behavioural reactions and pain areas on her body. This is something we check on all horses who come to us for training.
The first video shows veterinarian Dr Maike Turnbull palpating specific acu-points and meridians on the mare's body and the mare reacts to the palpation by flinching and trying to move away. The points we check relate to the horse's gastrointestinal system.
Reaction to these points is not diagnostic of ulcers but we find a significant correlation to a horse who reacts to these points and their response to ulcer treatment.
The second video shows the mare again being palpated 10 days after treatment for gastric ulcers using a combination of conventional medication and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.

The sound effects are so annoying. I would have rather heard a talking explanation or voice-over. Also what was used? Changes in diet, treatment with omeprazole or the secret chinese herbals? Or all of the above?
