  • Well well, there is yet another new Poco phone: the M3. As it seems to be a very cheap phone; but is it any good? You can find the Poco M3 here: bit.ly/XMF_AE_POCOM3
    The Poco M3 has some very good things going for it like the 6000mAh battery. Yes. Six-thousand milliamp-hour. That is very very big, but what else is there?
    The M3 has a Snapdragon 662 processor, which automatically places it in a much lower category than the X3 we have recently looked at. This probably the reason why it did not perform up to my expectations, but also why it will be a very affordable budget phone.
    It’s also got a 48-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. -To really call this a 3-camera setup is a bit of a stretch, in my opinion.
    I find that the camera is decent when there is enough light, however, when there is not a lot of light the quality degrades rapidly. Up to the point where noise and artifacts are predominantly ruling the image.
    On the video side, this camera can only shoot in 1920x1080 HD resolution and the quality is really not something to be very satisfied with. It’s got a lot of contrast, it’s quite noisy, it’s not well stabilized, and it had a lot of video artifacts. During the day with a lot of light it was surely a little bit better, but very far from being very good.
    On the other side, the selfie camera, is really not very good either. With enough light (read: a lot of light) it does quite good with more details although the color rendering is not very good. When it gets darker this camera is just pure noise and artifacts and was pretty much unusable.
    So in performance, the Poco M3 was not great, the camera was not great and the experience was not great either. The only two features that are noteworthy are the battery, which is really quite big, and the screen was alright as well. It’s not a super-high-end AMOLED display, but it wasn’t really crappy for a 60Hz LCD display.
    Generally, I found the M3 to be quite a disappointment, and it did not really live up to my expectations. Luckily there is also the X3, which might be a little bit of a better choice in this price category. ( • Poco X3 NFC - FULL Rev... ) And the Mi 10T lite which I have just looked at a couple of days ago might also be a better choice in case you might have the patience to save up a little bit more money, as this one will be a little bit more expensive. -But totally worth it in my opinion. well well! The Poco M3 has just been launched and the price is confirmed to be at 149 USD for the 4GB|64GB and 169 for the 4GB|128GB models. You can find them on AliExpress here in case you want to check them out: bit.ly/XMF_AE_POCOM3. -There will be some launch deals allowing you to get them for $129 and $149 USD respectively...
    Now does that change my mind about the M3? Well, it does a little bit. It surely is a very very very affordable phone, but the phone I had did have quite some flaws when using it. Whether that is because I had a pre-production model, or because the processor just couldn't handle it? I am not sure about that, but the performance really left some things to be desired in my opinion. -Nonetheless, it is an amazing price for this lower-tier smartphone.

      Hey mate,
      I have a question that you might be able to answer.
      I recently purchased the Xiaomi Mijia VDW0401M the Xiaomi Smart mini dishwasher, its only supported on China Mainland in the Mi Home app.
      But when I switch from The Netherlands to China Mainland, I can connect it, but about 3 minutes later the app crashes and I get "searching for devices has stopped working"
      My Mi 10 goes into an infinite reboot loop which can only be fixed with a hard reset.
      Would I be able to connect the dishwasher through a Mi Hub?

    • @xiaomify
      @xiaomify  Před 3 lety

      @Roy Smits oh that sounds strange! I haven't been able to use this specific dishwasher yet, although I know which one you mean. So it crashes *before* it actually finds the device you mean?

    • @smitteree
      @smitteree Před 3 lety +1

      @@xiaomify It finds the device on China Mainland and it works for about 3 minutes, but the Home app doesn't stop searching for other devices and then crashes into the boot loop.
      For now I just use the display on the dishwasher itself, but I would offcourse prefer integrating it in my home system.

      The processor runs in 11nm fabrication and I'm sure it can handle it. I think its just the whole software issues and the phone isn't fully optimized yet. Give this phone a few months to reveal its true power... but for the price, Xiaomi went really generous enough for those who are in the budget line.

      Yeah, many people are hyped here in the Philippines with this phone. I am a Tecno Pova user and I am curious as to why people are bashing in our community wall about this phone. First they compared our phone to x3 and now m3 which is lesser to x3.

      @@MenZoNe.0717 to be honest i think the x3 is better in terms of overall specs.
      But considering the price of pova and the experience that it can provide....as of the moment i think its unbeatable

      @@randomasiankid017 You get them automatically through Mi, in the form of Over The Air (OTA) updates. You will get an notification from the system updater app, once an update is available for your region. You can also go to system updates from the settings menu and check whether an update is available by refreshing the screen.

      You're going for a mix of release dates and successors. That's like saying SD430 = SD625. This is literally the only video that complains about lag. It was taken at a time before the price was even released. Redmi Note 9 with the G85 performed significantly slower than the Redmi 9 with G80 during its release because of software issues. G80 is on par with the 662 but the 662 will have things like better GCam support and is confirmed to be more battery efficient. The 4GB version of the M3 is too close to the 3GB version of Redmi 9 and on top of fast charge and big battery, it even has dual speakers. Redmi 9 doesn't even have night mode. Overall, objectively speaking, M3 is a better deal than Redmi 9 by a LARGE margin. This just sounds like buyer's remorse.
      TLDR: the phone in this video performs worse than the actual average of tech reviewers who also have the unit. It shouldn't be the benchmark.
