Doing a big bore kit or cylinder kit on your GY6 engine is by far the best bang for buck. We have step by step install videos for installing a big bore kit into your GY6. In this video I will teach you what to look for. Do you choose a 61mm 171cc big bore kit? Or do you want to bore your engine cases and go with a larger cylinder kit like a 205cc or even a 232cc. What is the difference between forged pistons and cast pistons? Ill teach you the difference between 4032 forged pistons and 2618 pistons. I will guide you through the importance of choosing a big bore kit. Things people never talk about. Like should you purchase a drop in big bore kit for your gy6, do I need a ceramic coating and how to spot fake forged pistons. This video will not apply to gy6 50cc engines. This is for the GY6 A and B engines. both 54mm and 57mm stud spacing. also know as the QMJ157 gy6 or the QMI152 GY6.

What a great and well explained video. Thank you very much! I have a 61 mm Taida cylinder and forged (I assume 4032 type?) domed high compression piston in my GY6. It was also a drop in kit as cylinder liner is thin enough. I have a NCY big valve cylinder head with 27,8 mm intake valve and 23 mm exhaust valve. The cylinder head is at the moment at my cylinder head porting guy who cut better multi angle valve seats and will port it. As the short side of the intake port is always too sharp turning towards valve seat in these GY6 heads we first planned to raise the intake port and put some epoxy on the intake port floor to get a better shape smoother turning intake port towards the intake valve seat. Plan was to port more from the intake port roof. Then we measured the material thickess from intake port roof where it’s thinnest to intake valve spring ”pocket” or ”base”. Material thickness doesn’t allow us to make this modification so the porting will be done less ”radically”. There is still a lot of room for improvement. I can see that in this cylinder head you have there is a better exhaust port flange as there is not that extra cutted ring shape groove for that type of exhaust gasket. I use that same type exhaust gasket as there is in your kit. We could maybe buy one of your two valve GY6 head and see if it has more material to do the required mods. I have 30 mm PWK slide carb, NCY ported intake manifold, A9 cam and Turbo Kit exhaust with better modified and flowing noise killer.

Cool video" nice breakdown , forged in billet just like in high-end race engines and v8s you want it to hold together especially if you're running big boost numbers you got to have it I can remember back in the day having a yz100 and they sold a 175cc top end kit" braaap" had a 80cc wheel set, so" it literally look like an 80 " the big bore maico"s burrrt" & a XT600 Enduro, ect

Some info for anyone who has a real gy6 china ped... mine is a very rare 125cc Ariic, but model was released i think in 2018 there are older models, anyways mine is a short case 10" wheel (fuel injection) and yes a big bore 150cc kit works perfect so do it as no videos will show its possible but it is. Also i took the stock variator and filed the top of every ramp until thin and steep after smoothing the best i could i coated it with clear lacker faintly do not get it to drip spray, after dry i then added only 3 of the 12g rollers or 10g not sure, i play with it sometimes but oh its a beast. I also forgot to mention i added a rear performance clutch yes it looks like the stock but is only about £30 and is black with red springs and because it is 4 stroke i leave the black stock main clutch spring and im going to add a race cam with steeper ovals. Its a lovely beast of a machine and also stock exhaust and remove the air filter face cover it has a dedicated open filter srewed in under the air filter face plate dont remove that though if rains re attach the cover but first trim around the air access port on the filter face plate to enlargen it a lil. It rides almost like a 2 stroke or pit bike also a wheelie machine to say my bike is heavier than a vespa i think also engines are tanks i swear it never lets me down only other bits have so far unrelated to engine like kick stand, i reckomend replace most weak screws with British ect. Have a good day and i hope my info has inspired people to do it so much fun. Rid safe.

Hey! Big fan of your CZcams channel. I've been scouring the internet and CZcams for a full wiring harness for a couple GY6 QMJ157 Kodi/Mossimo buggies we have here at our Boys Ranch, Agriculture Equipment and Small Engine Repair training center. I can't seem to find ANY (complete) wiring harnesses that either come with properly labeled wires, or with English instructions.
All of the GY6 buggies we have were donated to the Boys Ranch, but apparently the previous owners' kid did a hack job on the control boxes, and didn't reconnect everything. The control boxes and everything inside them are missing!!
I've been looking for several months and I haven't seen ANYONE on CZcams with a proper video on how to rewire a GY6 buggy, where they listed either a link where you could buy a complete harness, or a proper wiring diagram and/or pictures to see what wire color/connector shapes go to what. I've only seen one video that comes close which is several years old, but it's not a professionally done video like yours are, and it's just a young kid that never zooms the camera in close enough to see wire colors or connectors, never said where he got the harness, and no longer responds to comments where people have been asking over the last several years the same questions I have.
Also, do you know of a place/link where you can get a GY6 QMJ157 case with Internal Reverse like most GY6 Kodi/Mossimo/Spyder buggies have?
If you could record a video on that, I'd donate $100 through your website Tech Support link! On behalf of myself and many other viewers, THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!

Alrighty. So what if I want a daily hard use one, but I still want decent performance? I'm assuming I just go for cast pistons at that point, but I'm not entirely sure. I want to do 171cc, and for my needs, I feel more drawn to the rolling wrench kit over the probuild. Are my concerns valid in that I should not do a forged piston? Also, in Alaska. Feel that might be important.

Yep :-) I would do cast. Even with the kit being cast the quality is much better then stock. It would be a huge upgrade.

Does cylinder wall thickness on these kits effect reliability? Will a smaller bore with a thicker jug last longer than the largest bore with thinner walls.

For the 171 no. They have been mega reliable. But I’m general, yes that fact is true
