  • In modern day society, Christians often find themselves caught in the crossfire when it comes to politics. With all the uncertainty and opinions in the world, what can a Christian do to deal with political issues?
    In this video, we discover 3 simple steps for Christians to follow when dealing with political issues and controversial subjects. The important thing to remember is that God does have certain rules and facts on some political issues, and He wants us to be aware of them and represent Him to the rest of the world.

    Two years have passed since we first watched that video. As we ponder the path ahead for the United States, we might find ourselves at a crossroads, questioning if this is the direction God has ordained for us. In the realm of politics, we often find ourselves confined to two sides-the good and the evil. Yet, the lines blur, and the question persists: who truly embodies the good?
    Our Christian walk has too often been passive, and it is this passivity that has led us to the state we find ourselves in today. James 2:26 reminds us, "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." Our faith must be active, living, and impactful. It is not enough to simply pray for our leaders; we must pray that they encounter Jesus in all their decisions and actions. If our leaders were to see Jesus in everything they do, perhaps our world would be a different place.
    Consider the world we live in today. We witness individuals advocating for terrorists, standing in solidarity with those who would condemn them for their very existence. We see politicians who have deceived the public with false narratives, denying the existence of a border crisis, only to acknowledge it two years later. This stark reality begs the question: are we called to be passive in our faith?
    Proverbs 18:13 tells us, "If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame." It is our duty, as followers of Christ, to be discerning and proactive. God’s word urges us in 2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." This verse is a call to action-an invitation to engage with our faith, to work diligently, and to be well-versed in Scripture.
    When a political party seeks to dismantle the very foundations of biblical truth, it is not a time for passivity. We are called to stand firm, to be a voice for righteousness, and to act according to God’s word. Quoting Scripture alone does not make our stance right; it is the application of Scripture in our lives that guides our response.
    Let us reflect on the story of Esther, a woman who exemplified courage and resolve in the face of imminent danger. When Mordecai urged her to intervene on behalf of her people, he reminded her in Esther 4:14, "And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" Esther’s response was not passive; she took decisive action, fasting and praying, and ultimately speaking to the king, saving her people from destruction.
    In our time, we too are called for such a time as this. Let us not be passive in our faith, but let us work tirelessly, pray fervently, and stand boldly for the truth of God’s Word. May we be inspired by the example of Esther, and may our faith be a beacon of hope and transformation in a world that desperately needs it.

I forget to pray for them it's hard cause I feel like they are terrible for the country. But I need to pray for even enemies or people in charge whether I agree w them or not. How do I pray for a presidential leader I can't stand...it's hard but I need to go a diff way and pray more on it I suppose.

    Just because God does remove and lift up kings doesn't mean he lifts up and removes ALL kings. Satan has dominion over this world transferred through sin. We are meant to be vessels of the will of God as well. I think you could have touched on that a bit more. His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Expose the works of darkness.

    Just a note. Daniel 2:21 states God removes & setteth up kings. It doesn't say he removes & setteth up EVERY KING. I'm under the impression that he does this when He wills to. Does God set up every king in every kingdom? I would believe that he setups up HIs Kings in HIs Kingdoms that are called by His name. Is this a reasonable alternative interpretation?

    • @adminsupport9980
      @adminsupport9980 Před 2 lety +6

      God has the power to install and depose kings. Daniel 2:20-21 teaches that God, as ultimate king, is not standing by wishing and hoping his will comes about. He can use good as well as bad people to accomplish his will in the world so that his highest good will ultimately take place.
      God has raised up wicked leaders in the past. Habakkuk 1:6 teaches that God raised up Babylon in order to discipline Israel for their sin. God allowed Pilate, who sanctioned the execution of Jesus, to accomplish his will of having Jesus die for the sin of the world (John 19:11).
      Every ruler is accountable to God for how he or she uses their authority. Isaiah 13:17-19 teaches that the Medo-Persian Empire would be raised up to destroy Babylon. Babylon was still held accountable for their excesses of violence - even though God granted them the power to exercise their strength over others in the first place.
      We can’t always know God’s purposes for leaders. Pilate and the leaders of the Jews who crucified Jesus were allowed to come into authority in Jerusalem, and it was they, in their evil behavior, who caused Jesus’s earthly death. We can’t understand God’s will without having a divine perspective (Romans 11:33-34). But we can trust that ultimately, everything will align with God’s purpose and plans in the world - and they are plans for ultimate good.

    When I was younger I had the impression that my family wanted me to take an interest in Politics. But even at the local level there can be a lot of corruption and dishonesty and so far as I can tell even if you are innocent if you try to mess with the established order and run for public office there are people who will harass you. Apparently Roman Catholics were organizing where I lived when I was growing up and basically they were willing to destroy my Christian values and basically force me to accept Roman Catholic values if I wanted to get involved in local Political activities. There are communities within 100 miles of where I live that are probably run by people of my faith and probably politics is the same everywhere... you have to learn where you are welcome and where you are not and even, perhaps, if you are welcome anywhere. I ran for public office when my parents and grandparents were alive and I did it to make them happy but I know that running for office takes a lot of work, a lot of luck, a lot of hard study and strategy and even with all that going for you there is still a chance you might lose. There could be nothing better for your life if you won an election and were able to simply keep your city, county or state running smoothly but there could be nothing worse if you faced constant harassment and hatred because local officials did not want you around. I suggest you respond carefully and thoughtfully and realize that I don't know everything. I lost. I accept this but the Winners were much worse as winners ... I accepted losing with dignity and grace because I always knew it was a possibility. For me and my family, I did what I could and I accept who I am and what was necessary. For me, nothing that I understand has changed materially to change the outcome of any election were I to run again. Basically, why should a loser bother the public by running time and time again only to lose? I did some research in College on Economic Democracy and all but given the reality that in any organization where there are open elections, there is a strong probability that "outsiders" often lose. And let's say I got involved with a Party Organization. I've been around Republicans all my life so maybe I'd decide to get involved with Republicans. There are a couple of candidates for President running as republicans at the present time. One is endorsing candidates for state and other offices and might be re-elected as President. But something could happen and maybe another candidate would represent Republicans. I have been around politics and there is little worse than having some person win an election only to appoint you... well, I was rewarded by being coerced to be an unpaid manager for a Concession Stand. Basically the Candidate did not want me around and thought I was worthless. The whole effort was a waste of my time and a punishment. Your enemies can be very, very afraid that you might succeed and will do any and everything to make sure you fail and that is a simple reality. And who knows, maybe it's my fault. At the end of the day I have to accept the blame for my own failure and I cannot rely on blaming everyone else. And quite honestly, I was in contact with a relative with the same religious background as myself and he was talking about a weekend he spent with some Roman Catholic Relatives. But I simply do not know why Roman Catholics hate me when I am absolutely no threat to them whatsoever. I am simply not open to changing religions. This is a weird side-issue but I suppose they have to be selective in choosing who they hate. As far as my political interest in concerned I take care of myself and like I have said, I ran for political office when my family was around so they could participate in the campaign and such. I guess having an enemy - even an enemy totaling over a billion people worldwide is something I have to accept and embrace. I still believe God is on my side anyway.

    I'm sorry. But this didn't actually help me. Both sides can easily point to any scripture and use that to bolster their own viewpoints on it, even if the scripture in question is the exact same one that seemingly gives a clear cut answer. And any supposed Christian group that uses a political filter through which the scriptures are viewed is clearly letting politics win. But neither side will admit to that failing and will instead double down on their respective opinions and make everyone else simply agree with them by using the scriptures as a battering ram. And where is God when those of us who are being manipulated into seeing either side's view need actual clarity and to not be burdened with guilt over seeing where both sides gave allowed and welcomed themselves to being corrupted? I know the scriptures say that b3ing a Christian isn't easy. But we should find rest among our fellow believers instead of even more vehement division...
