I always say make maximum use of the strength of a force. The hit on a 4 also extends beyond the T-80 and BMP-3, to the infantry as well as the BMP-2/3 used to carrying them.

Loved the video @AllMiniaturesGreatAndSmall! Can't wait for the next video man! Started looking into Team Yankee a few months ago to try and play out some possible Scenarios for another Game that I'm planning out some Operations in with the Team Yankee Units being used by the AI Military Forces in Stormworks: Build and Rescue with the Search and Destroy DLC and the Industrial Frontier Expansion DLC and the Regular Flames of War, Flames of War: Vietnam and the Fate of a Nation Units as the Playerbase fighting the AI Military Forces.
As for the META, I think it's still pretty similar to Flames of War where you'll need to try and Time everything properly in order to deal Massive amounts of Damage to your Enemy. New Vehicles have come out like the French Leclerc Main Battle Tank which suggests that Vehicles from the 1990's will be coming to Team Yankee. This will more than likely include the British Challenger 2, Soviet/Russian T-90 or T-90A, American M1A2, M1A2 SEP V2 and M1A2 SEP V3 Abrams Main Battle Tanks and possibly something with the Asiatic Continent just over the Horizon. The Last part might be for 2025 but Definitely Sometime in the current year (2024) we will likely see some more Tanks, Vehicles, Aircraft, Helicopters and various other Equipment from the 1990's Onwards coming to the game.
I'm Curious about how the 2S3 Akatsiya Self-Propelled Howitzer Battery works on the Tabletop, especially with the Krasnopol Projectiles. Can you snipe a Particular Team or Overall Platoon with it or is there something else to it?
Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man!

I've been using T-80s in a few battles now, and that high front armour makes all the difference. Getting into knife fight range is easier than ever, and I've killed Challengers and Abrams with ease so far. Get a platoon of 4 Tunguska's in there, together with 4 Gophers, and you got your bases covered. The rest of the army should include anything else that is good on defending your own objectives.

I really like the T-80 looks wise and performance on the Battlefield.

hi im a bit late to this but i want to make a t80 shock company formation that can keep up with nato forces. Any particular notes i should make or any of your experience you would care to share?

I'm just getting into Team Yankee and I looked over the various army boxes - as much as I'd like to do a West German army (and eventually will), my first purchase is going to be the T-80 Shock box and surprisingly _because_ of the aircraft. I was not particularly interested in the PAH and the Tornado - they might be good in the game but never as cool as a Hind or a Frogfoot. Maybe they're not as great in-game or whatever but Rule of Cool is a factor for me too. Nice to see what I can eventually add to the core force.

Just a FYI the frogfoot isn’t a battlefront model and it’s the worst model I’ve ever had to assemble. Nothing fits. I was going to pickup a second box but refrained because I didn’t want to deal with that issue again. Hope yours is easier

Another tip regarding air: either take lots of it, or nothing at all. With a 50% chance you simply can't rely on aircraft. When they do arrive, fly your Hinds onto the table as well, and overwhelm the enemy anti-air first.

Frogfoot has the same benefit as the A-10, in that they can stand off at range and fire ATGMs outside of AAA ranges and can be placed outside of some SAM ranges. It's a solid aircraft, but you will struggle to get it and/or the Hinds into a true Shocker Co list.

@@fredkuxhouse8939 Thanks for the warning. I used to build scale models so I'm hoping I can get it to work without too much trouble, I might have to try some old tricks. We shall soon see.

A really thoughtfully put together list, and they look great too! I love the exhaust residue effect you put on the BMP’s - did you airbrush that?
I played one solo game with a shock tank company against British Challengers and it didn’t go well for the Soviets!

Great List discussion and great looking army. What points are your list? For Elite forces I prefer to build them based on the mission as it would be constructed by the armies of the time. I'm reminded of a FoW SS list. Really good kit but so few in numbers. My saving throws often like to remind me of. So I like to take some cheap units to soak up the hits.

I am not convinced about the Storms. They are first target for everything and will go down fast. I also doubt this force will do well against infantry blobs. I'd think about going for TOS-1 to be a way better threat for infantry.

A good list but I would consider 4 Tunguska’s instead of the Shilka. Maybe some Multiple rocket launchers although accuracy is an issue when they hit they hit lol

    • @Based_Lord_Humongous
      @Based_Lord_Humongous Před 3 lety

Problem is with the Tunguska is 1) you get hit with the same problem that the LAV/AD does, and 2) you pay more for it, but lose that second platoon for deployment. You have the same problem as a West German or NATO Super Tank list, in that you don't have a lot of platoons to deploy, so really having those two AA platoons is more optimal than one single platoon.

How many points is this? This looks exactly like my Shockers test list was. At 105 points it's hard man. You have to play it smart, because once you start losing bodies you start hurting. As a West German player, the Shockers play like a Leo3A4 Company but with lower rate of fire, and that's what hurts. You're always ROF1/1, but you don't have the bodies per platoon to make up for it like Red Banner T-64/72 could.
