So true and they've been that way for thousands of years, but they were also arrogant militarily speaking. They had never been defeated in war until 1945. A change in their world vision was inevitable and necessary. Don't get me wrong, the Japanese people have always been wonderful, considerate and intelligent people it was their leadership and military commanders. I guess I should add that several nations with great military strength should observe and listen to their people concerning war, look back on history so to speak. For those who have seen war up close and personal they know how horrible it is and how much pain it levels on their sliders and people. Didn't mean to write you a novel friend, just wanted to agree with you and share some on my insights from personal experience.

Every American business- particularly in manufacturing- is modeled after the Japanese way. In fact, legislators took action in the 1980s to ensure Toyota didn’t destroy the American auto industry because they couldn’t compete. They are the most resilient people on earth and no country or culture has transformed how they have while maintaining some of their most advantageous features.

It’s far beyond time to start to revolutionize how the meet industry treats animals. These beautiful cows deserve the wonderful life they have; after all-they give their life in order for people to be able to consume them. It’s my opinion that the reason why we’re in the situation we’re in is bc animals are living in absolute horrific and deplorable conditions for far too long. Many of the viruses that have threatened our health have come from farm animals. The disgusting environment that they are forced to live in creates toxic disease. You can get away with treating Mother Nature and her animals like crap for so long, before eventually she will backfire and refuse to no longer be treated in such a way.

Though they take longer to cook, we find it is more savoury and overall tastes better and we like meat well cooked. But not in the western countries and even in some eastern countries too. They like younger meat and rarely cooked in general. This type of meat, Wagyu wouldn't be of much value or sought after that much. But that's the beauty of the world.

Cattle in stressful environments develop immune system difficulties that can negatively affect the final product, that’s why a lot of big meat industries pump a lot of antibiotics in them to prevent that from happening. It's barely about genetics. How much fat a mammal has isn't passed down to the next generation. More than anything it's their diet and lifestyle. The other guy had it right about the hormones and stress. More stress releases more adrenaline, which over time will effect the final beef product.

ungulates are genetically very plastic; you can select for all kinds of things with impunity, and show results fairly quickly. the problem with this breed is slow to mature, dairy conformation, variance in bloodlines, not consistent, and VERY slow to finish. Also, that big front end is where the lower cuts are, the back end is dairy type, heavily discounted "on the rail' or if you ever have to send to auction in N. America. Japan also controls their Supply Chain vertically with "assoc.", what Canada calls "marketing boards", which the USA says are pinko commie so no way. American cattlemen are THEIR OWN WORST ENEMY when it comes to change.

Even if the title was, "Japan: Japanese cow", not everyone knows Japanese cows are all raised in Japan. Like Chinese cabbage (bok choy) is not only raised in China. Or 'Bolognese sauce', not everyone knows the word "Bolognese" is derived from the word Bologna which is a city in Italy. That's like having a title, Italy: Bolognese sauce. Not all Bolognese sauce are produced in Bologna.

Still i think it's way better to eat a steak of that kind, rather than a steak produced for the mass market. The animals had a better life by far but the question remains. How much is the market share of Wagyu not in terms of it's price but it's quantity compared to all other?

Livestock are able to use lands that cannot support agricultural (poor or thin top soil, hillsides, rocky ground. low rain fall, etc). They do not need grain to thrive or finish well. The grain fed to livestock is there solely to accelerate growth rate and white marbling of the meat in a confinement industrialized agricultural environment. Herbivores should be raised on herbs. The current industrialized model is based totally on cheap hydrocarbons. The problem is not with the cows but the way they are managed and the mindset of those that consume them (cheapest price per pound always wins). It is a complex modern problem that has a simple ancient solution. Graze animals where crops won't grow. Use animals to increase fertility of marginal ground to produce crop lands. Use animals to manage weeds and pests in crops.
