This man denied me an autograph around 2000, when I was a child. I was on a school trip with chaperones. My fellow classmates and teachers didn't know who he was. Not only did he say no, but did it with a haughty attitude, like he was an A list celebrity.
I was turned away feeling about an inch tall and rejected.
Today, as a 40 year old woman, and HUGE long time Kat Williams fan, I'm VERY happy I never got this man's autograph. 😏

I can honestly say I stopped listening to the Breakfast Club and started listening to Rickey Smiley morning shows on my way to work because of his spirit. Even through difficult topics he finds a way to incorporate great humor, passion, intelligence and has a way of calming a spirit and not heightening anger, at least for me. Great man. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers

Rickey is so down to earth. Was out with my dad at Kobe Steakhouse in Birmingham years ago when Rickey and a couple of friends joined our table. No entourage. He smiled and engaged us in casual conversation before casually saying "I need to get one is these stoves in my house" and started mimicking the chefs cooking motions. We were rolling!

Just wanted to chime into how effortless Shannon’s transition was from such a heavy topic to bantering with Rickey 1:17:49. Not only did he acknowledge Rickey’s grief, he was able to transition topics respectfully while elevating the mood. That can VERY hard to do in a smooth manner.
This an amazing interview, I am blessed to hear two OGs chop it up in such an authentic manner.

I like Shannon’s interview style. It like you are sitting at his house, having a conversation but he ask all the questions you want to know the answers to and he allows the person being interviewed the courtesy to answer the questions. Some people don’t do that in 2023.
So true. I can't even watch/listen to MOST interviews because they're all so scripted and the laughs, reactions, etc. from the host are so fake. This is organic, and it makes you feel like you're just in the room with famous friends, listening to a regular convo...❤
