    This is important for D&C to do. By being the voice of those in the industry, who wish to reveal, yet remain anonymous, he can help them stand up to them, and get the courage to break these monsters and demons apart, and cast them from Comicdom forever.

      Yeah. The facts that D&C got placed in the "most influential people in comics" list, and the fact that they are trying to shut him down shows that they are scared of him showing the people in these companies that they don't have to be scared, cause if they just decided "Screw it, let's toss you out", they would be outnumbered, and the companies would make far more money, even from minority groups.

    I am in Portland and I go to PSU studying English. Any time a Portland comics pro comes by to talk to a class they're a worthless SJW (but I repeat myself). I took a graphic novel course and we only read one good graphic novel. The rest was worthless SJW trash. Nothing but guilt and grievance. I want to do a comic again but I'm not going through the publishers here. I'm starting a webcomic again.
    I almost took a comics writing class there but because I watch your videos I didn't. Because the co-instructor was Brian Michael Bendis.

    2:35 Zach, I’ve tried not to pester you about this, but if you think this is a Comics industry thing and not an American education system thing, you should watch the vids I’ve been doing on how radical feminists believe that politics is art and art is politics. The people spoiling comics are my age. Our educational experience is different from your generations. Yes, we learned to speak well, but SJWism is the default thing kids were learning in my art classes, not how to draw well, and it’s the disease causing the symptom of SJW comics.

    • @Anerisian
      @Anerisian Před 6 lety +5

      Spooky T2i
      Nope. SJW ideology is a *mutation* from anti-racist, radical feminist activism, as cooked together by Critical Race Theory. The key word is mutation, Tumblr mutation to be precise. Critical Race Theory is based on radical feminism, is highly race concious (rejects “colorblindness”) and questions the liberal order and enlightenment values, according to the very introduction by one founder (Richard Delgado 2006). Postmodernism is an influence, but people like Hicks and other Right Wingers are utter hacks who make a mockery of good criticism with their neo/cultural marxism conspiracy theories. The Right Wingers are part of the problem, because their dumb criticism and accusing everyone as an SJW has made it easy to dismiss _any_ criticism. That’s why this lunatic ideology is still essentially without a name.

      Comics are just one area. This nameless ideology (“sjw”, “social justice (warriors)”, “regressives”, “special snowflakes”, “intersectionality” etc) is creeping around for at least ten years. Find “SJ blogging” circa 2006, then Racefail 09 in fiction writing, then Elevatorgate 2011 in atheism, DongleGate in tech 2013, GamerGate in videogames in 2014, uni/Campus mental meltdown 2015, to name just a few highlights. In between there were many more instances, ShirtGate about the ESA dude, Tim Hunt witch hunt etc.

    You're on the right track, D&C, but there's more you've yet to see. What happened in the comics industry is virtually identical to what's happened in several other fields - most notably the indie circuit in video games and more recently the pen-and-paper RPG circuit. Both fields suffered an invasion chillingly similar to what happened in comics: A few individuals got into positions of authority, usually as diversity hires, before appointing additional cronies to various positions until they've secured ideological control of a given group. Anything they gain control of they turn into just one more avenue to spew propaganda from.
    Keep turning up the heat and exposing these jackasses. Comic book fans are lucky to have you.

    Why do these people have power? It's interesting. I was reading a book that referenced Japan's losing war against China and then the US in WW2. One of the interesting theories was that Japan kept fighting a war they had no chance of winning because those in power were too afraid to be shamed in front of mid-level officers. So even though these mid-level officers had very little direct power to determine the course of the war, they actually had immense power of influence. Also, even though it's possible these mid-level officers would have thought better of their leaders if they'd stopped fighting, the leaders' PERCEPTION of what the mid-level officers MIGHT think was actually what drove them to their own destruction. I thought this was pretty interesting and relevant to what you talked about here.

    I would be lying if I said I didn't have any plans to work for the Big Two, so the aspect of gatekeepers is worrisome. It's true that the bigger companies usually want to see a body of work to even be considered for a gig, which is fair. That's where small press comes in, but I'm starting to have concerns. Getting ostracized over some petty stuff is a high possibility in the smaller companies.

    • @millernumber1
      @millernumber1 Před 6 lety

      The Batgirl and the Birds of Prey title where they had an anti-man virus was actually pretty solid - it was very much "not all men" vs. crazy feminists. I enjoyed it - also, it was very similar to a Denny O'Neil story about an anti-woman virus in Detective Comics Annual #1 from 89. The Batgirl title (not the Birds of Prey title) has been incredibly awful - constantly having Babs throw herself at "bad boys" and having her "best friend" spout transgender propaganda.
      Wonder Woman was really excellent under Rucka. I know he's a massive SJW, but he can write. After that, it was just horrible. Simone's Wonder Woman/Conan book is much better.

      @millernumber1 Před 6 lety

      Hmm. I've read every issue of the Rebirth Batgirl book, and I don't think any of it has been very good, honestly. It's not super terrible, but Babs is just so stupid, and it's been pretty SJW after the first arc. Because she came back to SJW-ville, aka Burnside.
      I dunno if current Wondygal is really SJW so much as it's just really boring, terrible writing. Not pushing an agenda so much as just being really dull.

Growing up I had always wanted to be a comic artist inspired by the work that had been done in the late 70's and early 80's and this was the reason for my choice to go to art college. Never worked in the industry though. All the older great creators have been replaced with sjw/libtards who are so filthy and have turned the industry into a cesspool. Now that I've learned what this once great industry has come to, and the vile people who have taken it over, I'm glad to have avoided it. I think it was Megan McArdle who was talking about giving a lecture at Harvard, and she complained that all the students wanted to talk about was how to forge a social network. This indicates that it's a generational problem, and is probably due to the corrosive influence of social media.

    It certainly makes a lot of sense. A merit based system run by those who lack the skill to earn said merit, but effectively being positioned to control the flow of talent. It reminds me of a job I held at a new business. I was in at ground zero with a whole new team where management was to be selected from the hired crew. The kowtowing and power playing. Oi. It only got worse once management was hired, as people churned the waters to create a support base. I eventually bowed out, but witnessed 4 management changes in about a year's time. The worst being the last. Point being your scenario is completely plausible and realistically believable.

    @Zach: I still can't see how Diamond's overshipping fits. They pay 40% to 60% of retail price by number to the publishers and "sell" by weight to the shops. Even if Marvel sends them more, than they asked for and want to skip on warehouse costs, someone is bleeding money. I see how "They" can play gatekeepers, but how can they influence printing or shipping numbers?

    I never knew they targeted Brian Woods. I always liked his work and would pick up some of his Dark Horse and or Vertigo trades whenever I saw his name while searching for my comics. Looks like I'm going to need to buy more of his comics ro support him against the SJWs

The dogs are let loose and you will have to take up the fight!... Because it is not about the quality anymore... it's your life that is at stake!"

    I wish everybody was just as laid back and good with their audience as you. I think what you're saying makes a whole lot of sense. You see EVS with Rob from Comics Explained? It was ok. Rob seems cool, but it was like watching a boot dump all his ideas to a shirt who for some reason stays polite and keeps listening.

    Auger is so fucking weird...
    Whatever you think about EVS- I like him... outside of any political agreements we may have, he's someone who has been a pro for decades who remains excited about comics and the fact that he works in his dream job- I fail to see how his kids are related to the matter at all.
    The whole "sins of the father" thing is really weird for leftists to be bringing up, since they seem to want to devalue the importance of "sins of the self" (ie. how hard former-President Obama's administration worked to reduce the effects that a felony conviction had on someone's later career). "Guilt by Association" is the type of thing that inexorably leads to the types of tribalism that they claim to loathe.

    The only way to get rid of them would be to let the leadership know about this situation but that would be realy hard to do and they would have to examine it and do an investigation and all that.

    The US comic industry is a sad story about three big companies keeping things small so they can continue to ring in modesty profits. DC and Marvel do not want more competition in the market place and do not want another company similar to how Image was in the 90's competing with them. Time magazine, just one magazine, has a sales of over 3 million copies an issue. The entire US comic industry has less than 1 million a month. It is not sustainable.

    Also, why have the disclaimers? Won't SJWs use that as an admission of guilt?

Well, at least you do you. But you'd understand a lot more if you understood the macro of which this is just a micro, and that understanding would help you. Not just in this - but in navigating life. "Prepare yourselves accordingly" isn't just a catch-phrase for people living through the now.
