  • I was out riding over my local woods when I discovered the PROBLEM with E-BIKES....
Since EMTB become a thing it has been super controversial which often happens when a new thing comes along but slowly over time the "E BIKE HATERS" have disappeared as these incredible bikes have been accepted.
As the title suggests I have cracked the code and found the real issue with electric mountain bikes.
I hope that you enjoy the video! :)
Welcome to my CZcams channel giving you an insight into my life as a Professional mountain bike rider. I upload videos 3 times per week covering all disciplines of riding and topics including Full speed downhill, Huge free ride and dirt jump tricks, XC rides, EMTB adventure riding, trail build series and general bike vlog's, challenges How to video's and MTB games.
Weather you are a beginner MTB rider or Advanced there is something for everyone on my channel so sit back and enjoy!

@@worldstallestmidget E-bikes are more expensive for the same/similar componentry. Also you can't fly with them (or more accurately, with their batteries) so unless you plan to drive they're no good if you want to take one on holiday..

@@sandy_knight well I bought a second battery. Send a battery to your location yiu will be and problem solved. And as far as pricing right now you can get killer deals! I bought a kenevo expert regularly 9 grand for out the door at 6 grand. Yes their a tad more then regular bikes but I have seen road bikes more then e bikes! Could I afford 9g’s no but 6g’s is manageable. Look at prices of top spec regular bikes and they’re the same as e bikes. Just my opinion

I put together my 1500w 52v set-up for like £1200 total cost. It's cheap and it's bloody quick plus I reckon I've saved £1200 just from not buying petrol in the past 2 years since I built the bike

You nailed it. Many people (mostly those that haven't tried an emtb) still scoff at emtb but it simply allows me to ride further for longer = more fun crammed into the limited time I have. For me, it also means I don't have to mess about putting the bike rack on my car, driving to the forest and paying £6 a day to park - I just ride from home now instead :) But yes, as someone else mentioned, it's a pricy entrance fee for emtb and for most (including me) it's very hard to justify. But I cut out and sold off a couple of my 'sitting down at home hobbies', saved like hell, got a deal on a Cycle to Work scheme and decided to go for it, primarily because I'm not getting any younger at 52 y/o and wanted something to get me back out riding. It was worth it, and I love it, even though it's no high end bike (Haibike AllMtn 3.0). Love watching your channel mate!

There is a bigger sense of achievement riding a "bike" without a motor as it is all down to you. You do what you enjoy at the end of the day, as long as it aint hurting anyone else I am all for it.

0:38 Looks like had black ice. You have no chance on it without studded tyres. When you have to ride on roads and there's risk of black ice. you need studded tyres. i live in Norway so there's a lot of ice and snow now.
    Decent studded tyres:
Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro, has many knobs with studs, all of them have studs, stiff enough knobs for the studs to not fall out, robust bead.
45Nrth Wrathchild, it has knobs with and without studs on both side and mid knobs, so it grips well on both ice and bare surface. Easy to install, east easily. They too have stiff enough knobs for the studs to not fall out, robust bead.

What a lot of people who hate them don't realize, (especially those who refer to them as electric motorcycles or mopeds) is that they are in fact still very much bicycles. eMTBs are Class 1 in the States, meaning no throttle and assist only up to 20mph. In Europe the assist is only 25kph (15ish mph) and still no throttle. Plus in Europe there's much more restrictions on when an e-bike can be considered an e-bike before it crosses over into something else. That's probably why there's so much less controversy than in the States.

That being said, I do have some issues with ebike industry…we need standards for ebikes. The ability to update with newer batteries and even a newer motor. Pay 7k plus and your ebike will be outdated in a couple of years?! No, that’s not planet friendly or user friendly for that matter.
All batteries should use same chargers and all motors should use same mounting points…at least same manufacturer should stick to one mounting solution so in a couple of years you can buy a new motor and mount up to your frame if you chose to.

The real problem is the price of a real e mountain bike that’s the Real problem 🤨 And as a mountain biker that climbs to descent very technical loose trails you would really have to sync the amount of torque & your own to keep a steady rhythm & grip on the loose shale type rocks body movement & balance is key to cleaning some of tech areas I just don’t see a ebike doing well. Going down is one thing but going up mountains in real time is brutal. But times change & people now take the easy way if at all possible & one day maybe it’s already here people say remember when people had to ride regular bikes up this. 😂

    • @MyBetsie
      @MyBetsie Před 4 měsíci

I took my eeb up Torridon which is loose, climbed stuff that only trails riders could climb, no world cup xc lad on an xc bike could climb. Then climbed the Achnashellach climb in both tour and EMTB, wow, I can clean all but the 2 stream crossings on my Amish averaging 3mph, this climb is brutal and for the very fit and technically gifted riders. 11mph on the eeb, my HR was near red zone 5 for the whole climb, the eeb was incredible. Very tech, use tour, normal Amish limits, use EMTB and hammer the climb. Once you learn to embrace the power and learn how to climb differently the eeb flies up the most technical and loose Amish climbs. Wouldn't get ride of my Amish, trail, enduro or DH ones, all different tools for the same job, the eeb just allows for more descending and more challenging climbing for folk like me that love a technical climb.
