Who danced each move in The Boys best?

- This dance has a lot of moments to show off musicality and poise. Basically relying on the girls to hit every beat, not look awkward with travelling, and strike nice poses. I do feel that, as this is a long time ago, dance practices didn’t have the same emphasis on being polished but rather looking like stripped down behind the scenes moments. So, I believe some members are just being more laid back/casual than you might see now. I would say no one is going full out for the entire dance here.
There’s quite a few mistakes or awkward moves and yet they’re quite in sync, more so than I expected considering how casual they’re being.
Here is how long I focused on each member. Remember, this is not telling of their overall skill or even their overall performance in the practice as I couldn’t give 2nd or 3rd place points which would change this up a bit.
Hyoyeon = 49s
Yuri = 45s
Yoona = 37s
Seohyun = 34s
Sooyoung = 18s
Sunny = 18s
Jessica = 9s
Taeyeon = 8s
Tiffany = 2s
Here is what I noticed about each member:
Hyoyeon
Brilliant at moving her whole body in a smooth and accurate way. She adds the extra flair to each move in a subtle way and knows when to be sustained vs sharp etc. It’s virtually perfect for what it needs to be in this dance. I would say she sometimes makes minor mistakes or could be a bit more graceful on some moves but that’s about it.
Yuri
She’s got a great mix of strength and technique. She is knowledgeable about how to move nicely, keep balance, hold her body, and add that extra bit. She is the least likely to look awkward while waiting for the next move. When travelling, she struggles to be as smooth as when she is still. She also overdoes it sometimes when subtly should be favoured.
Yoona
She probably is the most full out throughout the dance. Yoona is great with her upper body control and has a good sense of timing. Her strength is in smooth movement but she has some awkwardness with her limbs. What she adds to the moves is not as subtle as Yuri or Hyoyeon either, even when it probably should be.
Seohyun
She catches little details and is graceful with her wrist and hip movements. She also has a good sense of timing. I think perhaps she lacks confidence at this point as she seems to be half-heartedly doing the sassy parts. She also just lacks the level of control and flow that the dance line has.
Sooyoung
I think she’s purposefully underdancing here since it’s just a practice. Usually she is a lot better. That or maybe she just wasn’t feeling her best which is fine too. Notably, she’s doing a lot less with her upper body that she is her lower. However, Sooyoung often does shine with her hip and footwork more than upper body stuff so maybe that’s just natural for her so when she’s taking it easy, the gap is more apparent.
Sunny
Opposite of Seohyun. She’s got the sass and really throws herself into moves. However, this sometimes costs her the accuracy. She moves in and out of being very good and being off in either time or position throughout the dance.
Taeyeon
I believe Taeyeon is underdancing slightly just based on her performance compared to live stages. Still, she gets the hits and is good with the moves, rarely actually doing something wrong. She could be adding that little extra though, seeming a bit lackluster in the times when she could steal the show.
Jessica
Another member I think is under dancing for this practice. Again, it’s not a bad thing as the expectation was that it’s a casual setting. She does have great control over her body and when she gets it, she’s one of the best, slowing easily from shoulder to hip or vise versa. However, she often makes mistakes, finding her limbs in the wrong position. She could also take a lot more moments to add a little extra (a head nod, really pushing out the hip, a sharper shoulder move etc)
Tiffany
She seems very unsure what to do for most of this dance and often doesn’t flow well from move to move. It may just be how she was feeling this day as she seems to cut quite a few moves or hesitate on things. She is good at shoulder and hip moves but seems nervous about them. Fany is by no means a bad dancer, but this particular video does not do her any favours.

@@ohandthefracking Chungha and Seungyeon isn't at the level of Hyoyeon yet. They still can't beat Hyoyeon in Isolations being the best among female dancers, her overflowing versatility, her perfect technique in using her body musicality and mastered dynamics. With time Seungyeon and Chungha might outdo Hyo but not yet

Totally. I learned about SNSD in 2014 but didn't become a big fan until 2015 making Catch Me If You Can the first MV I watched the day it came out. They had a great year then but suddenly faded out, only really doing solos. Even so, they've been slaying the game a long time. This dance rocks.

Seohyunnn Is The Hidden Lead Dancer
This truly isn't even close to her best work. Seohyun is always very clean and poised. In TTS, she's a notable dancer to me

Well, I always thought that with Seo, Jess and Soo were the most well rounded of the entire team, all the others had some kind of weakness but those 3 could do it all nicely 😍

I feel like Sunny is so underrated. She's literally a jack of all trades.

Yoona, Yuri, Hyoyeon, and Sooyoung are the dance line.... Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, Sunny, and Seohyun are the vocal lines... Imagine being that good

i feel like it’s such a weird thing to notice but i love how snsd travels. they dance to their spots vs other groups who often just ... walk. their transitions and position changes are so smooth.
Actually I found that, in this practice, the travelling was a big awkward. I think it's bc its a practice bc usually they strut quite well. I think groups I've looked at recently like Gfriend and Everglow also travel with purpose either due to good choreo or the members' good musicality to make it well on beat. I'm looking at BP right now and Rose does it particularly well too
@@soshimochi556 ohh i see. normally like for example in run devil they transition pretty well. gfriend and everglow are good examples of traveling with purpose like you said and i also think red velvet’s dumb dumb has good moments of it as well
Yes!! I will never forget the Run Devil Run choreography, I think people have made videos on how well the travling is done and all, it's really impressive.

@@raven-kn6lv I think it may be that OP meant SNSD has some nice transitions in the choreo itself which is true. But there are also moments where they just walk and the walking isn't very organized. With groups like Gfriend, Everglow, and many others, they do also sometimes just walk but I find they're good at walking with purpose and "staying in the scene". Then again, I can't think of any groups that are consistently bad at this. May just depend the song/choreo/practice time etc

Seo is truly a legend, such a well rounded idol, no doubt she made it to SNSD at such young age, is a shame she isn't doing music now 😭
The entire video is basically the dance line with cameos from the vocal line, SNSD is truly THAT girl group. With their vocals, visuals and amazing dance skills it's no wonder they were the nation's girl group.
Hyoyeon and Yuri are simply the best dancers imo, can't choose one of them

Yuri was such an underrated dancer she was so overlooked because of hyoyeon being the best and main dancer
Sadly...she is but she's still appreciated by those that do know dance. I can't see myself seeing Yuri as a lead dancer but rather the 2nd main dancer of SNSD
Not gonna lie, I underestimated Yuri a lot when SNSD was still active. Not because of Hyoyeon but because of the way she performs on stage. Her solo performances, she always devour the stage! But when she performs with her group, she rarely shines to me. She tends to underdance too in some eras. Like during the whole party era, Sooyoung was outdancing her. But that's idol dancing thoooo so I ain't saying that Sooyoung is a better dancer overall 👀

It does take a while to look at everyone, especially when a few are doing equally well and I must nitpick to choose. This one was faster since the dancer is slower than newer ones so moves just happen slower too meaning I can spend more time on the same person lol

The others are almost the same with Tiffany as weakest in Dance.
i really think SNSD's dance line is very worthy to be applauded for. in a group where you have Hyoyeon as a main dancer which is almost a perfect dancer, it is hard to shine. but then again, they still slayed and shined on their own.

YUP I think you're right, she's better at Singing and Rapping... But she's not that "Lazy" she's work hard in dancing, but yeah dancing is not her thing, but what I like about Tiffany's dance is she is very focus on the movement so it makes her sometimes forget the movement orang sometimes she messed up but really... Her dance is cute, can be sexy and sharp sometime...
