- it's been long overdue, but the tl finally steps into the present day and finally gets bluetooth music streaming with the BT45-HON3. I also showcase a more budget friendly way to add bluetooth to your vehicle.
also, I have the BT45-ACU for sale if anyone is interested.

Some people get the BT45 ACU because the HON doesnt work on Acuras sometimes
yeah, the ACU works for American TL type-s or TL's with livetraffic. So, if your car doesn't have livetraffic or your TL is Canadian, then you're good with the HON3.
Can you use the stock Acura navigation when you use that ? Or you have to use your phone
@@Ale-nd5kp never tried since my nav didn't work, but I'm sure you can. The module doesn't impact the nav any, just the xm radio, so all steering wheel controls and buttons still worked.
@@ph0bolus okay thanks
If it were me I would just replace the whole head unit with one of those Pioneer or Sony Radios that have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto they also have hands-free link built right in as well I'm planning on doing that to my Type S in the future
i probably should've since the dvd unit is toast, and that annoying error always pops up, but I never use the infotainment screen anyway, so the bt45 unit was a nice and easy compromise.
@@ph0bolususually around Christmas time The radios can go on sale That would probably be a good time to pick one up I usually buy all my Radios from Best Buy because of sales and coupons I personally always buy Sony myself but the pioneers are also REALLY good as well they normally go for like $300 $400 USD But on sale they can go down to $199
the BT 45 unit should have came with a microphone that you can connect and run the mic to the front. I purchased the same unit and it came with it. I just did nt run the micro to the front. Laziness. Will have to do that one day.
Hahah yeah it did, I didn't install it for that same exact reason as well. Also, I generally dont like talking on the phone while driving anyway.
Can you still use the factory HFL for calls with this? The included BT45 mic send kinda jankie.
Do I need to have a working hands free link module ?
Nope, I disabled hands free module when I bought the car since it was draining my battery.
@@ph0bolus wow thankyou I was having same problem and now I want louder music thankyou any links? Recommendations? Crutchfield?
@@FreeMaxB860 honestly wherever you can find it the cheapest. Depending on where you live, and what car you have, you have two options the BT45-ACU or BT45-HON3. If you have a type-s and you're in the states you'd get the ACU, but since I'm in Canada, and we don't have live traffic in the navigation system up here, I had to get the HON3.
Is it static at all?
No static, was one of the better purchases I made for the car
nice
thanks!
ph0bolus it’s very expensive bluetooth adaptation, 170 dollars, i probably could buy a new headunit
@@MBZXZ where do you live?
ph0bolus us, i search on ebay the bluetooth device you have is like 150 around
@@MBZXZ im asking where do you live? I can sell you mine if shipping isn't too expensive.
Can you link me the exact bluetooth unit for the TL? I need one of those
do you have a type-s or a base tl, also are you in Canada or the US?
@@ph0bolus I'm in US and I have a Type S
@@jaffershareef8192 nice, yeah you'll want the BT45-ACU. I still have the unit that I didn't even install if you want.
@@ph0bolus don't I need the HON3? Or is the ACU something different?
@@jaffershareef8192 HON3 is for TL's without live traffic and Type-S' in Canada, because we don't have live traffic up here. You're good to go with the ACU.
how about a shout out for my threads that leading you to HON3 lol. Canadian TL lol
Haha definitely should've asked you first. Lesson learned.
