  • Welcome to Light a Fire Studio!
In this episode we’re comparing two excellent and equally matched multi-process welders, to see which, if either, will rise to the head of their class.
Join Fred while he goes over the ins and outs, and then he’ll Demo their MIG welding capabilities.
These are both “multi-process welders that claim:
-Arcaptain from their description page: “6 in 1, Gasless Wire Welder/Gas MIG Welder/Stick welder/Lift TIG welder/Spot welder/Spool Aluminum welder with spool gun. ”
    -As for Yeswelder: “110V / 220V Dual Voltage / Gas MIG/Gasless MIG/Lift TIG/Stick 4 in 1 / Synergic & Manual MIG Setting /Ideal for 7018/6011 Electrode / Spool Gun Compatible….4 Functions in 1. ”
    Fred’s Pros and Cons…
-Yeswelder = I’ve used more of the features of this welder, such as the lift TIG and the MMA, and we’ve put a lot more miles of wire through it then the Arccaptain. From that experience, I would say for roughly $400.00USD you really cant go wrong with this unit, although it’s clear that this was pretty much just a preliminary model for their upgraded Aluminum welder (MIG250A, and the YMW-200), and it really is a speed bump compared to their new “Firstess” welder series (which, if your reading Yeswelder team, we’d love to test one of those out???). The welder itself lacks some cosmetic care that other welders have, and in some regards it seems kinda flimsy. Overall, this will get you going and it’s very easy to operate on all it’s functions (we have yet to use the aluminum spool gun).
    * Full disclosure, our unit arrived damaged and though it was a quick fix, if you are a Newb and hadn't looked over the machine before using, you could have had a dangerous failure on your hands. Always inspect equipment even when it comes from the factory!!!
-Arccaptian = Lets be perfectly Frank, the MIG200 is basically “Welding for Dummies,” and I mean this as an absolute compliment. Let me explain… Yes, we still need to try all of it’s other claimed features, but you can literally pull this out of the box and start making great welds, same day. Having owned their MIG130, I know they already have the Fluxcore side of welding down solid. As well, having used both their lift and high frequency TIG welders I have no doubt that this unit will go toe to toe if not out perform any welder in this same price range. I only wish it was also a HF TIG welder, but then it wouldn't be also around $400.00USD.
...Take it or leave it, because somebody returned this unit and that’s how it came to us, but I am not sure why someone was so quick to send it back as we are very happy and grateful to have it in the shop.

*Correction! At about ‘7:20min’ I claimed Yeswelder was 220V Only, I was wrong it is dual voltage (120v/220V), and did come with a pig tail.

    My Arccaptin Mig200 came with a 220V plug and a 220v to 120v adapter.

Weird mine is the opposite has 220 plug and you can neck it down to 120 , wonder if they’ve just recently changed that? Either way I’m very pleased with mine , most ppl don’t say anything about changing the pre and post flow in the settings on the arc captain along w other things, with the machine off , hold the middle button on the right before you turn the machine on and it will come to I think 7or8 diff settings you can change, it’s in the booklet but a lot of ppl don’t mention this

Actually you mentioned you did run it in 220V.
Try to trick it by selecting 1mm with your 0.8mm and see if you can boost the Amperage.

The arccaptin has a light inside and yes you can change the liners but you can get a spools gun for aluminum and it will take 40 lb. Spool of the small rolls

About the Amp-cap - thats because you only got an adapter for 120/220V - it wont give you the maximum with 120V.
And i think you have to set it to 1mm to get it all, also.
I have to mention one thing, not meant in a bad way.
You guys uses imperial standard, together with Liberia and Myanmar - (even though some companies migrates towards the metric standard these days) and 120V. Like some of America.
But the states represent like 4.2% of the world population, so it makes sense that they look at the bigger picture.
Maybe you should too ? :)
And it will all be fine and dandy.

    I don't like that you can't run 200 amps with .8 wire.
Other than that minor issue it seems to be a decent machine.
I see in the comments you can get all 200 amps if you tell it you have 1mm wire loaded so it isn't a big deal.
Would love to see you connect an ammeter to the output and compare actual amps to the number on the display.
It seems Amps are much smaller in China.

Nice opinion but you state no facts as to why. It’s no help to people looking to buy something when people just say it’s awesome or garbage. Leave some facts and thoughts on why!

@@jeffgood6441 Don't be affraid of yeswelder they are damn good machines for the price or even more, I have the yeswelder MIG 250 pro SG and the CUT 65DS and they are not bad at all and in a couple ways are BETTER made than my Lincoln 135 in build quality, I know this is an old post but it just pisses me of when some jackwagon like mr walterbarger up there makes some broad B.S. statement with no backing facts and most likely is nothing more than some immature man child dink living in his parrents basement and most likely doesn't know his ass from his elbow about the subject because at best maybe once or twice daddy let him try to run a bead with his old dinosaur AC stick machine, I just happen to own more than a couple welders, (a Lincoln ac225 "tombstone", an Airco 180 stick, Lincoln Mig 135, a very old Mark5 110 ac stick machine that welds like a dream, a yeswelder arc 205 stick machine, the yeswelder 250 pro, and an old Lincoln 250 Ideal arc AC/DC with a high frequency AC/DC tig converter, and also a Miller 225 thunderbolt stick machine, and the yeswelder holds it's own and does a couple things better than any of those others.
