This is exactly why you NEVER remove your cameras because some nurse doesn't like being watched. To me that would have been a huge red flag. I would have asked her "Why, what are you doing that I shouldn't see, or your company shouldn't know about?" Don't ever let anyone blackmail you like that Rich. That is such BS! I know it's crappy and inconvenient when nurses quit, but those cameras are there to protect Tracy; and so that you can see what's going on when the nurses are and aren't there. If a nurse can't handle the camera, then you don't need her/him.

When they have issues with cameras, they have something to hide.
Put the cameras back in Tracy's area, do not take them down again.

I spent years working in mental health and my wife and both daughters work in healthcare. What you had there was a nurse that was there for a check mot to help someone who is sick. Put the cameras back in Tracy's room and any future nurses that come that has a problem with it call the company for a replacement. Its been my experience that if they don't want to be watched, they are doing something they don't want seen!

Chase had a good point. The overall health of all the fish is unbelievable. In 5 years of watching I've never really seen a sick fish or any outbreak. The only runaway train is the cichlids breeding throughout the entire system. Lol.

i have Home Care, too and some of the nurse/care workers do not care about people at all, they are in the wrong profession. i hope you put the cameras back. and keep them. because if the person doesnt want to be watched. then they might be doing something wrong :)

Speaking as a nurse of 30 years, I can’t believe nurse was so unprofessional. Unfortunately there are some like that out there.
I would have been suspicious when she asked to turn off the camera. What is she doing, or not doing, that she doesn’t want you to see. Will the home health company that places nurses be willing to have them sign something to make sure they know cameras are part of the deal? Or will they let you have nurses to sign once they are at your home?
I worked weekends at a home of a family with 2 disabled boys. Cameras were running 24/7. You just get used to it. For me, I was happy to give those parents peace of mind if they were watching live or viewed a recording later.
I'm not sure how they're not running Background Checks on the nurses, as i was working as a Caregiver they ran one every year.

I would never remove a camera from Tracy's room. She can not speak for her self and should you get someone who happen to abuse her when your not present she's not be able to tell you. It should be her well being and safety first not those you employ to care for her. If someone can treat you the way this employee did, imagine what she's capable of doing behind your back. To me when she demanded you remove the camera's, that was your first red flag she wasn't a good fit to start with. You're to nice some times Big Rich. Don't risk it.

Do not take those cameras down and repeat do not take those cameras down there there for your safety and the nurses she had no right to try to remove that camera unless they plan on doing something nefarious. 🙏🙏. And on top of all this Rich you don't need to be disrespected by a home-care nurse. From this point on any conversations anybody that comes to work for that company you have a right to video record them at all times for your own safety you're not out of the woods yet with these people can try to make your life a living hell. People don't understand how hard it is to take care of a dying family. And yet they want to come in your house and harass you I throw them out of my dad's house several times. The nurse is sometimes they're no good man you got to watch damn that's why you keep cameras on and your house. Instead of removing the cameras, remove the person requesting the cameras removed.

Finding level headed smart in home care feels impossible. Had a homecare person come into my home, sit down and then demand my WiFi password. Another one was always late and left early with constant excuses. The best ones I had were private pay, but charged almost $500 a day!!! They were honestly the nicest people, but we couldn't afford it for too long. My dad is 100% recovered now! Send my very best to Tracy and I truly hope you find the trustful help you need.

Bigrich, please re-install the cameras you removed around Tracy so that when you have anyone else taking care of her you will be able to monitor. That nurse sounds like the epitome of evil and it worried me why she really wanted those cameras removed in the first place. She was a dangerous person and it's a good thing that she is gone from your home before her potential for acting out sadistically may have become a result of her being left to her own devices. Whenever someone is demanding that cameras that are already established to be removed when their job is to be a caregiver, nurse or even a nanny, that should be an automatic red flag.

Thank you so much for having the courage to share. Even hearing about this is somewhat traumatizing because we went through this several years ago with my disabled grandmother's caregiver "nurses." What I will say is that they continue to do this with other vulnerable people until they're reported to the state and stopped. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE report everything that happened with this "nurse" to the state nursing board, and maybe even the Better Business Bureau, because that's absolutely unacceptable behavior and reporting her will protect other vulnerable, disabled people she may try to work for in the future. I shudder to think about all the helpless people who DON'T have cameras that prove her lies; what could she do to THEM? She straight-up blackmailed you, and it has nothing to do with age: I would never act like that when I was 23, threatening my employer, of all people, to give me what I want or I would quit. Lying to her company was her effort to blacklist you, so they wouldn't work with YOU anymore. She does NOT need to be working with patients, let alone vulnerable, disabled patients who can't advocate for themselves, and you reporting her to the state will protect other innocent people in the future. At the very least, it gets this spoiled brat on record, proving misconduct and dishonesty. You totally have her over a barrel that she lied to her company about you being violent in jerking a laptop out of her hand in order to discredit YOU, with your video proving she's a liar. The nursing board should also know that you had to call the police to force her to leave your house. I'm not a mental health professional, but that sounds totally mentally unstable to me, and she shouldn't be working with patients. That is outrageous. Maybe also consider posting a Yelp review about that particular person so other people know how she behaves if they come across her - that's your right, and you have video proof she lied - and it will also document a pattern of her behavior. I know it takes some of your very precious time, but it protects other vulnerable people in the future she may hurt. I'm so, so sorry this happened to you, because it happened to us, too. Some nurses are earthly angels, but the bad ones are just horrid. Sorry this got so long-winded but it gets me totally fired up. Bless you and your family.🧡

I feel your pain Big Rich!! I'm going through the same thing. Mother-in-law had a bad stroke 5 years ago and the family have been taking care of her every since. She can do nothing on her own. Totally dependent on us. Anyway, we've had several nurses quit because they don't want to work (in my opinion). Why be a nurse if you don't want to do the work?!?!? I had one nurse say she couldn't work with us anymore because she was allergic to the plants in the house. Get this....... all the plants in the house are fake. She lied because she didn't want to work with a patient that needed full assistance (LAZY). I have many other stories that are similar but I don't want to make this post into a novel. Haven't had a nurse in a couple years. I give praise to all that have to do the same. Stay strong. I hope Tracy gets the best of care!!

what is the best way to get rid of Sand without messing your fish up? I see videos of using plastic hoses, wouldn't it be better if you turned your filters off and scoop most of it out carefully and then get the water level up and turn your filters on and then vacuum up the rest of the sand?

Policing, (practical) nursing and (sadly) some in teaching are so often the dregs of society lately. I'm not saying that *everyone* in those jobs by any stretch are bad people. Compared to the way it was when I was a kid though, those jobs used to be among the most automatically trusted people in our community. Now you hear about the most disgusting treatment of others coming from those workers instead of what we'd expect. They're dealing with our most vulnerable in the most helpless situations and it seems like so many of the sickest perverts look for employment in those fields just to be nasty and abusive.
As far as cameras go, I just assume I'm being recorded every moment I step out of my home unless I'm inside a dressing room, toilet or a hotel room. Most workplaces are full of CCTV these days.
Character and a caring personality are traits that are either there or just absent no matter the job title.

MANY nurses and especially doctors are narcissists. I had a nurse HOLLER at me for something so stupid-I was coughing/asthma attack in the dang CT scan machine-I was choking laying flat on my back with phlem in my windpipe-she YELLED at me to be still. We had it OUT that day I let her have it. I would have complained to the hospital but the next day was her last day. Good riddance. Don't ever let a medical professional treat you like dirt. You pay for their yachts.
