In part 2 of my series documenting my experience with uterine fibroids, I am talking about my fibroid removal surgery, and open (abdominal myomectomy). I will share some tips about preparing for this procedure, what I recommend packing in your hospital bag, and how my surgery went.

You thought of everything ! Yes, leave your fine jewelry at home . It's funny how the rings just walk away right off of your finger when you're under sedation . I love how you gave examples of what to wear no matter the season . I probably would've went commando if I could with a long maxi dress on if possible. I guess if anyone had to deal with menses, and such after the surgery that may not be a good option . Did anyone watch over your belongings , such as your cell phone until you returned to your room? Thanks for sharing your human side , I am sure many people get concerned during surgery . It is understanding , because any type of surgery is to be taken serious , no matter what . I have to love and hate the cold hospitals. Thank goodness , ( I'm sure you know) for them combatting germs . When two are more agree in prayer... Amen ! They had your back. It was actually at least three there. Your hubby, mom and God were there with you and HE guided your doctors hands. There's no telling what I would've have said when I woke up. I had all my wisdom teeth removed and my family said, I introduced myself to everyone . 🤣 I won't spoil it for anyone that hasn't watched the video, but I watched every detail . Everything ! I am so happy you are doing well. I love you and mean it.
My friend, I love YOU and I mean it. I want to publicly thank you for checking on me throughout this entire process. It is a blessing to have folks in your life that think of you and genuinely care. THANK YOU! I would have loved to "roam free" if I could have😂. I started out in this little pre-surgery room and ended up in the other room. Hubs and Mom took my stuff to the new room. I did see in the paperwork that the hospital has safes if you just needed to store your stuff. I wish I had been able to do this earlier, but I'm almost glad I couldn't because I might have been subject to COVID restrictions on who come come with me and who could visit. As I think about it, being under anesthesia is kind of like being in the valley of the shadow of death - but the word of God says we fear no evil for HE is with us! (Psalm 23:4)🙌 . God is so good! As far as I know, I did a lot better waking up this time. When I was a teenager, I cried and asked for my mama like I was 2 years old! HAHA!
Depends are a great option after abdominal/vaginal surgery. They are stretchy and can be thrown away if they get blood or any discharge on them.
Thanks for this tip! I started to get Depends at the time, but I wasn't sure if they were moisture wicking enough. Hopefully, this will help someone who is going through it or about to. :-).

Do you know how difficult it is to find women who have had a vertical incision open myomectomy?! This video also provides me with much needed comfort I am having the same exact cut n surgery in 2wks! The amount of anxiety im experiencing along with the fibroid symptoms has been emotionally draining and taxing on my body. It feels good knowing that some1 else shares the same questions you had. I also had a vertical incision myomectomy in January. I had 5 fibroids removed. The largest was 15cm. I just turned 30. The surgery went very well!!! I have my scar but thats ago, those monsters are gone!!!

@LeePlumbob yes I did! Today marks my first week post op! I was told I had 13 from the MRI and I woke up from the surgery with the doctor telling me she removed 25!😳 I want proof dammit! Lol but seriously next week is my post appointment and I asked for pictures hopefully I can see them
