- In this episode we take a look at the kits that I acquired from the Chris Cortel Estate. Its kind a a Yin/ Yang video, Its kind of sad knowing our friend is gone and he will no longer be doing builds like this but on the other hand its good because these kits that I got will be restored and live on to the great work he brought to this community. I hope you will enjoy
Durk awesome scores and I loved Chris!! I sent Chris the 4cylinder engine in the James Bond Sunbeam Alpine I resin cast it for him and I didn't realize that they had a auction for his stuff, because I'd sure bid on some, and we did a buddy build on our CZcams channels we built the IMC 48 Fords ❤😊
That's right, you were the one to supply the 4cylinder motor. My apologies for not remembering that. I also remember the 48 ford builds quite well
@Dirks_NUMA_Files Chris was one Hell of a modeler and he is missed for sure ❤️
Nice additions of Chris' builds.
Thanks, Chris
So good see Chris’ legacy in such great hands 👍👌
I don't know about being in great hands, but I will do my best to fix them up and preserve them
Very nice to carry the torch 👍👍
Thank you, BK
I can confirm that older builds will deteriorate. Especially when you go to wrap them up to move them. Re gluing and work is always needed. Cool models!
yeah its a shame... but I guess its part of the circle of life for model kits
You did the right thing; preserving the memories of your friend; my compliments.
Thank you for helping me validate my intentions. That was the goal 😉
Cool adds, Dirk. And not silly at all. It looks like he did great work.
He was a easy person to watch, with his subject matter, his skills and his variety of subject matter.
I was wondering what would become of the Constitution kit. Glad it landed in good hands. The built kits you got are more than just models, They're a piece of Chris's soul!
Very true, Hopefully I can do justice to the Constitution
I have that Charger, and the Mustang. That's my favorite movie. I watched that with my dad when I was a young young man. It got me hung up on cars.
I have the kit to build the Mustang and will build it at some point and I will be adding the body damage and shotgun blasts to make it unique to the movie car
As another TV/movie builder Chris and I had several similar projects over the years, and I learned some great techniques from him. Like you I didn't want to see any of them discarded, and was trying to keep track of what was happening to them, but was not able to after the site went offline. Very happy to see these with you, a well-desrved good home for them.
Thank you, Spencer
Awesome video Dirk. Chris was an amazing builder. He is sorely missed by the model building community.
Thank you for deciding to be a custodian Of some of Chris' modeling history.
Thanks Rick
What a great way to remember a friend. I'm sure you cherish his kits. The UFO diorama is my favorite. Looking forward to seeing the ship model completed. Who got his Johnny Quest diorama??? That's my all time fav of his.....The Spy Eye. Thanks for sharing with the YT modeling community.
Bill
Not sure where the other kits went. i was hoping this would spark a bunch of comments about this but it didn't. The one kit I was curious about was the PT73 from Mchales Navy.
Well I know who else was biding on some of the model's. Lol Glad you got some of Chris;s builds. Mike is a awesome guy just like Chris. We talk once in a while. I am posting my kits and built ones tomorrow if you want to see the video. An it was because they were Chris's and he made them. I will miss my friend of many years but he is with me every time I sit down at the bench.
LLAP 🖖
I look forward to seeing what you added to your collection
@@Dirks_NUMA_FilesThe video is Scheduled for 5pm EST...

I got some of his unbuilt kits but didn't have a chance to get any of his hand-on builds. Not sure if he built the base to the Screamin' Elvira kit but I'm still enjoying his vids. I've learned alot from him just like from you Sir Dirk. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. Happy New Year, best wishes to you and yours my friend. Build on Brother....😎
Good to hear from you, Billy. Thanks for the kind words
Nice tribute to Chris.
Thanks, Jalyn
We’ll done dirk I am sure Chris is glad you end up with some of the kit he had done
Thanks, Buddy. I like to think so.
That's fantastic Dirk!!! I remember most of those builds, so glad they'll be restored and taken care of. Chris would be very happy!!
Thank you, I like to think so.
Seeing them bring back memories of watching Chris built them.
I will probably see some of them again as I fix them up
Very happy to see you with these kits. He will be very missed in the modeling community.
A very hard statement to rebuke. He is missed. Hard to believe its already almost a year since he passed
Chis Cortel ! I am a fan, inspirational dude.
Yes he was
It's not silly at all that you got the built kits. I completely understand. Building the kits I got from Mike and the auction is another way to keep Chris close by. Those rings in the Constitution can be replaced with more durable brass rings found in the jewelry section of a hobby lobby
Thanks, Benny. Yeah I had heard that I could find those at Hobby Lobby
Damn I wish I knew about the online sale. I would have loved to have bought a scifi or pop culture kit of his. I really enjoyed listening to him; kinda our Bob Ross
"Our Bob Ross..." That is a fantastic reference to him and his work
I'm sure Chris is looking down smiling, of that I have no doubt buddy! Awesome Dirk!! 👍👍🤘✌️
I hope you are right, buddy
@@Dirks_NUMA_Files - oh I doubt it bud, Chris was a great guy, great person, I don't see them keeping him out of the pearly gates, you know?
Dirk, so glad that you acquired so many of Chris’s built models and are planning to restore them. I’ve wondered what happened to the Constitution and I’m glad that you got it. It’s a daunting kit but a museum quality piece when she’s completed. I’ve just finished Revell’s 1/196 scale “Connie” and presently working on Monogram’s 1/120 Connie before I start Revell’s huge 1/96 version. Happy Holidays 🎄 and Good luck with your build.👍
Thank you, Tom. The thought of doing that large a ship is daunting, Thats why I want to do a smaller less involved one first like the HMS Bounty which I already have in the stash
Nice scores. I grabbed a few including the dragster VW Bug. And yes, everyone came to me broken. But I can and have mended some. I couldn't just pass I'm proud to own them.
That bug was a great build, I am not a fan of bugs but that series made me want to build one. What else from his collection did you get?
I got the Russian tank and lady, the flying eyeball coupe with flashing lights, a Batgirl bust and Supergirl. And a bunch of decals and decals paper. I wanted and tried for Lilly Munster but it was moving up too fast. Lol.
@@roysanchez461 Nice, Lilly was a popular item for sure
Thats great Dirk
You should do a follow-up video after you repair them and with the plaques
That's what i was thinking
Sweet builds, glad you got them. 😊
Thanks, Charlie
@Dirks_NUMA_Files l managed to get a few kits also.
Don't remember which ones. My memory sucks over the 6 months with this cyst in my head. I may remember when I come across them.
I got them to remember Chris by. My daughter took me to pick up the kits, l live about an hour away from Mike. Went to see Chris once also when he was feeling good. I sure do miss talking to him.
Have a great day buddy. 😀
I used like to recreate Nascar crashes.
That's cool
Ahhhh...a Clive Cussler fan I see.
Even before Clive...
