Teachers are great models for kids to emulate in their future. I am 58 and still remember my kindergarten teacher Ms. Lamb and the impact she had on my life. Keep being you and forget the haters. Go Fox!😊❤
My mom had breast cancer when I was in third grade. My teacher took her English lesson about writing letters and turned it into writing get well cards for my mom. She kept them and gave them to me. BTW-she’s 85, took a trip to Croatia and then came to spend time with me in France! Thanks Miss Whiley-you were an amazing teacher.
I'm a paraeducator and I absolutely love it. Moments like this are what make the stress and the tough days worth it. Kids are the future and they need positive role models and socialization. Plus, it's just more fulfilling as a job to get to be that positive impact in a kid's life. Absolutely beautiful
I believe making connections is so important too. The parents at my school would say this is wasting “academic time”. Mind you, they don’t read with their own children at home. I guess some people don’t value making connections with children- these are the same people who are wondering why their kids are struggling to learn!
Why would any parent not want their child's teacher to connect with them? That honestly blows my mind. I always had a great relationship with my kid's teachers.
Teachers having fun with kids is the best thing. There is one teacher I know who sets up a kickball tournament every year. He forms the teams and practices with them at recess. He even runs the gardening club and the kids plants vegetables and flowers and take care of them throughout the year, even during the summer. He doesn’t have to do that, but he does and the kids appreciate that.
You can never have too many people who care about and love you. My 15 year old has a science teacher who moved up to high school and they're so happy to be together again!
I 10 out of 10 agree! Teachers are like co-parents! They spend sp much time with our kids! I love it when teachers and your kids feel so connected and safe and nurturing!❤
This one made me tear up a bit. It's special moments like this in our kids lives that they will remember for years to come. Both my kids are now adults in their 20"s and they still, to this day, talk about the teachers that made a positive impact on their lives and lifted them up. As a mom, I'm so grateful for that.
The connections are the reason I love being a specialized Music Teacher in a high school after 20 years of being a performing musician. Keep being the wonderful Teacher you are, Ms Chang! Love from Cape Town, South Africa😊
The teachers I remember most are the ones that connected with kids on multiple levels. I’m 62 now but still remember the beginning of the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem The Children’s Hour because of my fifth grade teacher and her love of poetry. 🙂🐈⬛🐈💖🎃🌈
I completely agree with you!!! I teach first grade and try to spoil each baby when needed or the moment lends itself for happy and memorable moments in life!!❤️🎉
I WISH no one went told me "just do your job don't get attached" I missed out on a lot of true connections at first Until I realized you have to have a healthy emotional bond with who you work with ❤
I am a little older than you Ms. Chang and I still credit my teachers with helping to shape who I am today. And one or two probably saved my life. Love you and your fam and your school community!!
I had the best success with teachers I had a connection with. Now as a parent, I love that my son has a great connections with his teachers and as a SPED para, I have seen greater success in the kiddos I have had a connection with.
Not at all... pastoral care develops kids just as much (if not more) than academically. Kids forget alot about what you tell them.. but never forget how you made them feel. Great job all round
I think teachers should connect with the students. The kids would be less afraid to talk to thier teachers andeven in times of upset or trouble they can be that frjend they need to talk to.
Yeah, I disagree about teachers not making connections with students. Children learn better in environments where they feel loved/cared for and supported.
As a teacher, the job would not be worth doing without those connections! Love this!
Agreed

Sometimes a teacher is the only safe adult in a child's life. A loving teacher be the difference between life or death, truly.

I love how you said you would support the teacher with what she decided to do about the glasses!

This video just made my day!! I’m so happy to see kids freely expressing themselves 😭🫶🏾

Yep. Teachers DO need to relate to their kids. 🥲
