@@DrakyHRT That's a very good point, since with that factor, the swings, which already aren' the best on terms of accuracy, would just get worse, although even with the wheigh fix, those weapons could still use a relative mass and gravity itself for a grater destructive hit, I guess that's why I love greatswords, they have so much power just by beeing bigger and heavy lmao
I actually had a "sword" like this when I was a kid, the neighborhood bad influence made it for me out of a flattened section of pipe, and while it couldn't cut a damn thing, what it was incredible at was *breaking* stuff. Better than the machete that my grandfather inexplicably let me borrow
watching this, I'm reminded of an episode of the show where the final test was for the blacksmiths to make a version of the Chakram like Xena used in the TV show. One blacksmith made a cobbled together POS that mostly involved taking a bar, bending it into a circle around a steel drum, and the sautering the ends together. ugly as sin, but fucntional. the other guy made one by more draditional forging methods and evne included a handle similar to Xena's weapon. it was a more impressive, talented piece of work. BOTH blades technically passed all the tests, though the POS was slightly more aerodynamic. The POS won.
you sound really salty, the reason the actually good looking one lost is because it was too heavy to be thrown correctly, the handle was also too uncomfortable to use decently.
It's actually called "delaymaster". What it does is its show is effect a day later meaning you cut someone he will experience a day later. Quite a useful weapon to kill enemy while playing.
I can see this having great potential in a medieval battle. You try to cut a blade of grass and when your opponent doubles over in laughter, then you hit him over the head with it and knock him out
I expect to find this guy in a cave, he will see i have no sword, give me that pos sword and say "It's too Dangerous to go alone; take this!" as go off hunting for an elven princess
The reason for that phrase is cause when you're cooking a dull knife will slide off wrong and chop your fingers off whereas a sharp one will just go straight down
A dull knife can lead to a much messier, brutal swing, tearing and roughly gashing. Less effective for cutting, less efficient, but is incredibly painful and can prolong suffering. The pillow, however, feels no pain. It cannot suffer.
This weapon is genius. It makes an enemy believe that they have to wear a heavy armor that will slow them down, when really they don't need an armor at all.
Fun fact: Great swords are actually mostly know for being able to break appendages off more than cut because they’re so heavy. So maybe if his sword was like 10 ft longer and 20 pounds heavier and used by a Goliath of a man it would’ve counted for something. But he handed them a the equivalent of a heavy butter knife
@@marty7635 Yeah, if that's what they're going for, they need to be a bit thicker. I mean, it won't stop quality with solid strikes and proper technique, but it should offer some amount of resistance.
Aesthetically maybe. Gambeson is INCREDIBLY effective against blades. Heavy gambesons can stop longbow arrow shots, which are FAR more effective at piercing through padded armor than a cutting edge. This test is nothing like a layered gambeson.

for the third: both contestants would be competing against each other's version of the same weapon.
First pillow that survives to tell the tale. What a legend!
When you're sharpening your sword in KCD but also watching tv at the same time
I mean...here's the thing about blades that use their weight to cut something: *They still need at least one sharp edge*
And they need to be massive, so their weight can compensate (i'm not a native english speaker, so sorry if there are any mistakes)
@@vitoremanuel5005 nah you good that's understandable, makes sense
@@vitoremanuel5005 I'd use those instead of they, and the bigger a sword is, the more leverage you have on the handle, which is really bad since the sword will get unusable if the center of gravity is too far from the handle, the heavier the sword is, the heavier you should make the hilt and the handle to counteract the weight.
@@vitoremanuel5005 bro, just use an axe.

Better than the machete that my grandfather inexplicably let me borrow

the blade is to be used for bludgeoning
@subnautical123 Blades used for bludgeoning typically have a Morningstar pommel and a the 1/3 of the blade is dull to do Mordhau
watching this, I'm reminded of an episode of the show where the final test was for the blacksmiths to make a version of the Chakram like Xena used in the TV show.
@@turtlelord8021 It still passed every test they threw at it and looked better doing it.

It's actually called "delaymaster". What it does is its show is effect a day later meaning you cut someone he will experience a day later. Quite a useful weapon to kill enemy while playing.

@@fikrifahrizal482 looks to me like the blade bounced off of a pillow, didn’t pass through shit
The blade was so powerful it entered the spirit realm and was rendered ineffective
It didn’t fall apart because he didn’t speak the sacred lines, “Omae wa mou shindeiru.”
"A dUlL kNiFe Is MoRe DaNgErOuS tHaN a ShArP oNe"
Pillow: "Ight, come at me"
The reason for that phrase is cause when you're cooking a dull knife will slide off wrong and chop your fingers off whereas a sharp one will just go straight down
That and dull knives tear instead of slicing
A dull knife can lead to a much messier, brutal swing, tearing and roughly gashing. Less effective for cutting, less efficient, but is incredibly painful and can prolong suffering.
The pillow, however, feels no pain. It cannot suffer.

it lightly cuts you but the blunt force trauma it inflicts is on another level.
Even a butter knife is generous. That thing's a whole spoon.
sooooooo the dragonslayer from berserk?
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh, You do know Great swords very rarely weigh more than 5lb
A butter knife is still a knife. Howard deserve better
Letter opener
The bag they're testing for sharpness is supposed to represent a gambison, padded armor.
How. Those blades then are like fucing light sabers
