In April that same year, I was really pissed because McDonald’s were providing Aladdin toys with their Happy Meals when I feel like they should’ve been providing Star Wars toys as it was around the time the original Star Wars trilogy was remastered and rereleased at the cinemas.

Takes longer now just to get served correctly lol

I actually don’t remember this 60 second challenge, but to serve the food this quick, wouldn’t all the food have to be already cooked & quickly reheated in the microwave?. At least the Big Mac was probably bigger in 1997, than today.

Yep you would have to think that!

Back then the burgers would be pre-made and held in a warming oven for up to 15 minutes at a time. So when you ordered you immediately got one already there.
Contrast it to today, where it takes a bit longer because although the paties are likely already cooked and held in a tray warmer they still need to "assemble" your burger when you order.

Yes, the food was pre-cooked BUT, the menu was limited so the same hamburgers were constantly being cooked and bought before it had chance to go cold. The hamburgers were kept in rows in a bain marie behind the cashiers. Back then, the cashier took your order and then picked your hamburger from bain marie behind her, collected fries from the fryer where they were constantly being cooked and she then poured the drinks and made the sundaes and ice creams. Once a hamburger line was running low in the bain marie, they would start cooking more to fill it up which was hardly ever empty. Believe it or not, no microwaves were needed, it was basically cooked and served. There was also a system in place that if food sat for more than a certain amount of time it was binned, but that hardly ever happened. The service was so streamlined and always quick, unlike todays 'fast food'.
