Cleaning your old retro systems is easier than it looks! What’s your favorite N64 game? 👀

If one is going to disassemble, you might as well replace the thermal pads to ensure a long life and proper cooling. The thermal pads on mine were oily and brittle, so basically useless. Online says 1mm or 1.5mm can't remember what I used. Gently rotate the the aluminum blocks clocksose, counterclockwise until the come off, NEVER pry or pull them off, you may break the chip, pad or trace.
Modern quality heatsink will last the remaining life of the typical N64 still out there. Ours doesn't even get warm anymore (and yes full contact is being made).

That’s a good point, appreciate the feedback!

What are you doing to your N 64 (where are you storing it), which would cause it to get so dirty...you have to disassemble it and clean it?
I've had mine for decades, on its own shelf, in the basement. I give it a nice wipe down a few times a year and it still works great.

People find old consoles in garages, attics, flea markets, garage sales, etc. ALL of the time. I’m sure you understand not everyone has had their consoles for decades stored on its own shelf, come on now!
