    I'm building a 1978 kz400B1. This looks like the best solution

    Good video. I had a kz 440 Ltd and was about to do the same adaptation you implemented. I got lucky and found an original kz pick coils for like 20$ from a guy on marketplace so I didn't end up doing it but I did enjoy watching someone else with the same idea. I'm in the process of designing my own ignition system for these engines. It's actually not as hard as I initially thought.

      No it really isn’t too bad. Especially once you break it down to the fact that all you are accomplishing is providing the signal for the coil to fire. Good luck 👍👍

      Yea I came across your video before with the electronic kit. Very nice bike. I just wanted to aim towards a cheaper alternative. Nothing wrong with either setup 🤙

    Thanks for the video, nice work there! I have trouble ordering the -3 rotor from Germany, is it possible to use the rotor included in the ds6-1 kit. It has two magnets glued in, but I'm not certain if the angle fits my kz400. Do you have any ideas to modify it accordingly?

    • @dannysmotoworx4354
      @dannysmotoworx4354  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I definitely would not use that rotor without modification. Anytime a magnet passes the pickup it will fire the spark plug and that would be bad. Maybe try drilling out one of your magnets onyour DS6-1 pickup otherwise try to source another single magnet pickup locally from another kit. It would have to be from a parallel twin or 4 cylinder likely. Hope this helps.

    Just so I am clear, this completely deletes the IC Ignitor that comes on those bikes? The new ignition basically does double duty of the points and ignitor? That is slick

    • @dannysmotoworx4354
      @dannysmotoworx4354  Před 8 měsíci

      This is replacing the points on an older KZ440 which is before CDI. It could possibly be used for this setup since you are just using it as a “trigger” to fire the CDI

    Hi bud, thanks for de video, this kit is compatible with the Kawasaki KZ 400 B1 (mod. 1978)?

    • @dannysmotoworx4354
      @dannysmotoworx4354  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Everything I’ve seen in my research is the 400 and 440 share most of the same parts so this setup should be nearly identical for your 400. 💪

    Does the number 3 have two magnets? I bought one that says 3P and it seems to have two magnets inside it

    • @dannysmotoworx4354
      @dannysmotoworx4354  Před 3 měsíci

      The #3 rotor I got from Dynatek has a single magnet. You shouldn’t use one with two because every time a magnet passes the pickup it’s going to fire the spark plug. Who knows what part of the cycle that could happen

  • @trainmaster0217
    @trainmaster0217 Před 9 měsíci

    My 440 quits like turning off the key after riding about 10 miles. Takes a while but it will finally start and run great for about another 10 miles then it quits again. Cleaned tank and replaced the petcock and fuel line. New vacuum line but still the same thing. I think it's in my electronic ignition. Replaced the coil. Maybe it's the igniter or the pickup coil but can't find he parts at my Kawasaki dealers nearby, Anyone ever had this problem?

    • @dannysmotoworx4354
      @dannysmotoworx4354  Před 9 měsíci

      If it runs fine for that long and then shuts off and re-fires after sitting it is almost always going to be an electrical issue.

    • @trainmaster0217
      @trainmaster0217 Před 9 měsíci

      First, thank you for your reply. It quit on me yesterday and I hadn't gone a block. It cranked good but wouldn't start. I took my plug wrench out of my bag and pulled the plugs. Laid the plug on the engine pressed the starter button but no spark. I think it's either the igniter or the pickup coil breaking down. Electrical issue I agree but now to find the parts.
