Back in the early 80's I slept with my radio on, and right at dawn they played this. I was in between asleep and awake and when the intro was being played I literally thought we were being attacked by something until the acoustic guitar hit came in. I just remember so vividly thinking to my self "Thank God it's Pink Floyd".

It's about the journey. In 1975, they were recounting about their first impressions into the mid century music industry of the space age, the late 60's and early 70's. Last moon mission was in '72. Pink Floyd, Electric Light Orchestra, and Alan Parsons Project were some of the pioneers in the vanguard of space age sound in rock music. Always taking us to another world.

This always felt like it was about adulthood more than anything. Being a worker ant. You are just energy and work fed into the machine and spit out when you are out of energy to exploit. They told you what to want, where to go, and what to dream, that way you'll be a good cog in the machine.

I lived through the era that these treasures were written. I am loving watching you two young gentlemen react to these songs with such raw, pure emotion. It is always better to listen to music with someone who understands and feels it as deeply as you do. Thanks for the awesome company. It is hard to pick a favorite of their songs. But, I have always loved Wish You Were Here just a little more than the others. Reminds me of so many people. You seem to really love instrumentals. Please react to Joe Satriani "Surfing with the Alien". Also, "Always with You, Always with Me". You will not be disappointed I promise. He is a true guitar God, and taught many famous players. That sound at the end is the door of an elevator closing behind the person they're singing about, whether it be Syd specifically or any new artist, the elevator hitting hyper speed to the top floor of the record company building (likely to mimic a skyrocketing to the top of the charts), and the door opening allowing them to gain entry to a high end record executive party. Faintly at the end you can hear a quiet "pop" and I think that's the sound of the proverbial bubble inevitable bursting on a career in the future. Great reaction guys!

And guys, Wish You Were Here came out in 1975, so think of where the technology was and how they actually got those sounds. You HAVE to watch the entire movie Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii, because there is a lot of in-studio stuff they show that are NOT song videos. For instance they show how they figured out how to get the sound for the song 'On The Run' and when you see that, you should be pretty amazed. There were no convenient 'buttons' to push to get a special effect, they actually had to INVENT the special effect first, the hard way, before somebody could later incorporate it into a simple button to push.

hey Patrick n George, have been enjoying watching your reactions to the genius that is Pink Floyd. I have been moved by your awakening to what i experienced as a youth, many moons ago, especially Patrick's comments, that eye opening moment and realisation of "where have they been all my life", is something you never forget when ever listening to any of the albums. I as an avid fan was lucky enough to catch them live in 94 at earls court for the pulse tour, and live, they were better because of the show that they put on at live events, giant pigs floating across the stage, planes flying in over our heads and exploding above the stage and the laser light shows are second to none. I hope you continue your experience of the Floyd and i can relive some of that youthful exuberance to finding such quality musicians who do such amazing things with instruments and lyrics that can evoke such emotional responses to what you hear. So as George says, i will continue "these journeys" with you guys as you appreciate the genius that is Pink Floyd.

when you went to a Pink Floyd concert and they played this song they had quadrophonic sound which meant there were speakers in ther front right and front left of the stage and in the back of the place in the back right and back left and that bass line used to go all around the room while this song played and sounds would come at you from all directions. Mixed with the light show you had an incredible experience.

Hey guys! I love your reactions! Thank you so much! As a Pink Floyd fan, I would advise you to do an "Echoes" (studio version) reaction followed by another video where you react to the live at Pompei version!

You should listen to Rodriguez - Hate Street Dialogue, or even the whole Cold Fact album by him; truly legendary songs

Great reaction. Like most of my generation, the first I heard of Pink Floyd was Dark Side of the Moon, where they gained my respect as musicians. The Wish You Were Here album made me fall in love with Pink Floyd. Please do Echoes next, then do the Wall.

You make a good point. This would be considered "new" today. To me, timeless music is the kind of music where if you release it in any time in human history, it will be popular.

Hey guys! Really enjoy what you do. Hope everyone is happy and healthy on your end! Ready to go down the rabbit hole a little further? An often overlooked PF album “Animals” takes its cues from an Orwell novel “Animal farm” and portrays people basically in three categories; Dogs=Powerful business people who will do anything to climb higher up the ladder
Pigs= Politicians who live off of others
    Sheep= The masses
Some say it’s better to listen in order, but take a listen to “Sheep” when you have a free moment. You won’t be disappointed.

It was interesting hearing you guys discuss the fact that not everyone gets Pink Floyd.
I'm 50 years old. Over that time, I have tried to introduce countless people to Pink Floyd. I've learned that you can tell in the first 30 seconds weather or not they get it. If their attention is easily shifted to their phone, a cat, a car passing by..... They obviously do not have it in them to listen to Floyd. This music is cerebral. As you said, "it makes you think".
It seems as though some people do not relate music to thinking. I'm not saying they are stupid. I'm just pointing out that some just aren't wired for it.
Whenever I run across this, I am always saddened by it. I wish that they could get out of it what we do. They have no idea what they are missing. But alas,... I have not been able to find a way to get around it.

Attention spans are shorter because of social media and video games. I’m NOT saying this because I’m an oldster....I’ve read the research on it. It’s a fact. When this music came out, everyone got together with friends, put on the album and listened all the way through...for 40-45 minutes or longer. No one got impatient. No one was checking their phones. Being stoned sloooowwwweeed things down too...time got warped. So you were completely IN THE MOMENT. I actually do feel sorry for younger people in some ways: sure, they can navigate technology really well.....and that’s cool.....but many have lost the ability to concentrate and to just sit in the moment. And that’s sad. To me, it’s not so much that they might have to think about the lyrics, it’s that they don’t have the patience for the long ride that is Floyd.

The Machine - still rolls along today, trying to control all that we do as they attempt to satisfy their unquenchable greed, not wise enough to be more concerned about where they will spend eternity. Seems wiser to be doing the will of my Creator Father so I will have riches forever in heaven. Check out their video "Another Brick in the Wall", showing the mindless minions marching along doing what their told, dawning their masks all the while heading for their own destruction. So true today.
