I'm from Los Angeles. The one point you made I would like to stress is that the people who say, "LA is full of fake people" are in fact the fake people. I've lived here on my life and know many wonderful down to earth people. I'm a cab driver so I meet the "influencer" type all the time. I can tell within seconds that they are not from here.
Most of those fake people arnt from L.A
I've lived in LA for almost a decade. My conclusion is that it's a shithole. From the lowest classes in the hood to the richest in Malibu. Due to my work I've met thousands of people. yes, you can meet the most wonderful people on the planet but they are rare. Like one in a million.
While it's true many of the fake people are not from L.A, they are actually the nicest people the first day they land in L.A. Soon though they will get poisoned by the delusions of grandeur while they try to "make it".

Everything that is nostalgic to me is here in Los Angeles. From the parks my dad would take me as a kid, where i would go on dates in high school, the barrios i would walk around in at night. I live within walking distance to several family members. I can only imagine why it is so hard for someone to move here. That's why I say the stereotype of us being toxic and bratty mostly applies to the people who move here.
