really shows the pain in his freedom. true kino. wish the shot was more panoramic tho with titan steam instead of clouds below. and a touched up facial expression (his left eye kinda wonky).
mappa really gotta use the old classics instead of repeating fire on the ashes and that one other ost 100 times. they did good overall this special tho

not really, while that's part of it he also just simply wanted to see the world flattened, so it would resemble the world he dreamed of from Armin's book and fulfil his idea of "freedom".

@@RedditorGogeta The Rumbling lasted 4 days until Eren was killed. He didnt even truly achieve his dream. He didnt prevent Mikasa and others from stopping him and killing him. He could have killed everyone. That means his friends and homeland were more important than his own dream. Which is why he didnt start the Rumbling for his dream but to protect his friends.
Yes he was disappointed, that the world wasn as what he dreamed. But that disappointment wasnt an enough reason for him to start the Rumbling. Which is why he sought for possiblity of diplomatic ways to protect his homeland. Had there been an alternative version, in the paths where he could have achieved the protection of his homeland without the Rumbling he would have done it so, since he didnt fully complete his dream, and let others kill him.
While I understand the choice direction of giving this scene a way more haunting and darker OST... this is what I wanted. Using T-KT feels ironic and out of context when looking the images but eren feelings here are exactly like that in the panel.
I would have loved if they gave us this OST, even if it just were for five seconds.

@@xano2921 first, i never said i did support his actions. i just think the scene would've worked better with us feeling disappointed or sad, rather than horrified. of course thats still there but i wouldve preferred the focus on that instead. also the point of the story is absolutely not that no one is right or wrong, they make a giant point that eren is clearly in the wrong again and again in the third act. people are immoral, but its about how much immorality are we willing to do for our goals. eren believes that any and all immorality is worth the freedom
I expected them to use this song for this scene. Its perfect because it was played when he first saw the sea and was disappointed
it makes no sense if they want to foreshadow the dogshit ending, they are doing everything in their power to make that ending as digestible as possible. they even saved some of the rumbling scenes for the last episode so the next episode can at least start off good.

I expected vogel am kafig. But either way this video still conveys what many were expecting.. an emotional theme which matches Eren’s perspective in this situation… yet we got a generic doomsday theme.

I think T-KT goes perfectly since Eren finally found the “freedom” he’s been hunting for the whole time. The OG scene ost was good and it did fit the gore, but again T-KT fits the this is freedom so well
nah, atleast used attack on D. T-KT is used for hopeful scenes and much more utilized when armin sacrificed himself and when he got revived.

Yeah, the original score is the horrors of the rumbling, but this score is the tragedy of erens character, and in this moment, eren should be the focal point, weve ready seen the rumbling and its consequences in the previous scene

Yeah it is the tragedy of eren's character, and his distorted perception of his idea of freedom derived from armin's book. The child version of Eren is literally basking in "freedom" because he's making the world the empty playground he saw in Armin's book. It is supposed to be distorted, twisted, and off-putting. It's him realizing his childish dream of creating the world in Armin's book. It's twisted, even to him. So the original OST fits far better.
When I learned that they used this song for Annie’s “goodbye” instead of the actual Rumbling… I was so disappointed.

Definitely hits different with this OST. I like what they did, but it didn’t accentuate the “freedom” panel, which was drawn better in the manga. This accentuates it.
Imo I think the original OST was the right choice, the ost of this video just sounds too uplifting and makes eren feel more innocent than he actually is but I can understand why others might enjoy it more.

I really really love the contrast between T-KT and the horrific scenes presented in this sequence. It's just perfect because it encapsulates Eren's feelings. He's looking at this scenario with the eyes of a child and believes that this is "freedom", so having the soundtrack reflect that, while also creating a deep contrast with the imagery would've been amazing.
While I'm not against the soundtrack that was actually used in the anime, I believe this track would've been quite fitting.
Agreed. The soundtrack they used is very fitting from the POV of anyone that isn’t Eren, but T-Kt does a great job of presenting the messed up disconnection between Eren’s dreams and his actions.
I honestly prefer this version, although keeping more of the sound effects of the rumbling and its destruction over the OST would really help exaggerate that contrast more.
Imo the greatest scene in all of AoT. Well done editing, I like it even more than the original.

Ngl I like the idea of disturbing music over a mix of horrifying and seemingly innocent shots rather than an ironic score playing over them, it’s how I always pictured it. I think Vogel Im Kafig would work too

If they chose this OST it would also have matched up with the scenery from Armin's book that was shown in the S3 end credits where this OST was also used.

It was way more horrific in the manga so if mappa truly wanted to make it that they wouldn’t have excluded all the more gritty parts. People throwing their kids and babies off cliffs for example.

Pretty nice edit. T-KT is probably my favourite AoT Track but I think the song they chose in the episode was already perfect. In this scene we not only see Eren's emotional suffering but also the physical suffering of all those who are getting trampled... and I think the original track perfectly captured that contrast of terror and sadness. Seeing the iconic freedom shot with T-KT's main part playing hits really well tho.

Pro: OST fits the line "This is freedom" and the panel from the manga perfectly.
Contra: OST doesn't fit the rest of the scene. Especially Ramzi getting squashed like a potato. The calmness of the OST takes away the tension and cruelity of the Rumbling. Even tho I understand that it stresses the POV of Eren coping with his crimes out

The stark contrast between the song and what is actually happening, with the display of Erens childish happiness makes it truly diabolical and disturbing, the freedom he feels is perverted and distorted, and in its essence tragic. I would say that this is so much more impactful , unlike with the original soundtrack, this feels so much more personal and sad, you can really feel what Eren feels here and its terrifying, the rage and dissapointment with everyone outside the walls, telling a child he will murder that he WANTS to wipe everything away, while watching him get crushed under the titans feet on the screen, all this makes Eren a 10 times better villain even though the scenes didnt change much, if only they didnt try to shoehorn "eren is the personification of evil look at all the people he is killing", i get that and its all cool, but i didnt really feel anything watching the rumbling the first time, probably due to knowing the manga ending, it ruined my watching experience knowing this actually aint the "real Eren" and the real Eren is a bitch thats scared his stepsister will cuck him out of their(up to that point) one way romantic relationship while he is in the process of murdering 80% of the world, what a sham, the extra pages were just a cherry on top, isayama should be banned from writing romace since that is what the end of the story has came to.
This is great. This is the music and direction I imagined in the scene before Guilty Hero came out.

Tbh, they could’ve used either of these ost’s or tried to combine them both, the ost Mappa used fit the unsettling, horror and gruesome feel of the rumbling and all the deaths while t-kt fits to the more emotional side of freedom

I must say I've never had any request for the ost, unlike most of the fandom that just keep asking for YouSeeBigGirl for every scene.
The only one I was really hoping they'd use was TK-T for this scene. They opted for a completely new soundtrack instead, which was in my opinion the 2nd best outcome. I think that the song they used was great for showing the horror of the rumbling, but not completely fitting with Eren's cry in front of Ramzi. TK-T instead, which I consider Eren's theme from the moment he discovered the truth in the basement, will always be the best song for this scene and there is no doubt about it, as it make you focus on Eren's disappointment and it underlines even more one of the most important motivations behind his actions (and it's tragic enough to fit the rumbling). TK-T really sounds like it was written for this scene, because it's the song that embodies Eren's disappointment more than any other piace of music in the official soundtrack.
AoT made me genuinely cry one single time and it was when I re-read chapter 131 with TK-T on the background.
But I think it's fine anyway. I don't think the song they used is bad. It's good indeed! Just that TK-T was the best possible choice. But the official scene is growing on me, so I guess that I will appreciate it even more with time.

The original OST used in this scene, shows the world's perspective on the rumbling and this ost shows eren's perspective and makes him look like a good guy. I fooking love this OST. 10/10

rumbling is the only catastrophic seemingly evil thing that fits with sad music like this
dont get me wrong what eren did is very cruel and immoral but after watching the aot chronicle for a reminder of the seasons 1-3 i really felt what eren felt too and this kind of OST reminds us of that, i mean he is our main character damn it i only felt like eren is a pure villain from the start

This would’ve worked better as season 3’s end credits featured this ost with people in the outside world having normal lives while the people of paradis suffered, here we’d see the devil of paradis happy for once while the people of the outside world suffered.

It sounds too "energetic" if that makes sense. If they used a slower darker variation of this scene I could absolutely see it but as is I don't think it fits too well
This really expresses eren regressed to his childlike state, disregarding the horror beneath to feed his deluded perception of freedom. Beautiful
The official OST they used is actually very good, it can portray the terrifying and catastrophic scenes of the Rumbling splendidly. On the other hand, using T-KT makes me feel like the Rumbling is being illustrated from Eren’s POV rather than what we feel and see in the official one. It feels more freedom and more “Eren-like”

I think eren’s character ending should have been different
Like it should have been like breaking bad ending where eren really wanted to kill the world to attain freedom (because of his freinds yes but mostly it’s because it was his own Choice and he wanted it he enjoyed it ) and in the end mikasa killing her with a knife but first confessing a kiss like game of thrones ending where John kills her and hence stopping the rumbling could have had so much parallel where in s1 mikasa saved eren with a knife and s1 and s4 part 2 endings both mikasa and eren are holding knifes
