The Shabani family of western lowland gorillas photographed at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Garden in Nagoya.
On this day, Kiyomasa was very excited, drumming and making fun of Nene.
    I can't wait for lunch.
There is a scene where Kiyomasa and Nene appear to be mating, but a professor from Kyoto University who comes to the scene every day to conduct research said it was okay because it was just a pose.
Now that she's around that age, Kiyomasa often makes fun of Annie, but she confirms that she's only posing and not inserting herself.

It’s so sad that Japan didn’t have a proper breeding plan in place. Their disregard has resulted in all the gorillas in Japan being too closely related. Gorillas reaching sexual maturity have no potential mates to create new troops. So these young and upcoming gorillas will mate with whoever is available and willing to mate. Father, mother, granny, daughter, son, brother, sister, granddaughter, grandson, will seek gratification with whoever is available to them. You are correct, they aren’t humans. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be treated humanely. Boy haven’t humans totally failed these creatures?? They deserve better, a much better and more fulfilling life than we dumb humans have given them!! Hopefully Japanese zoos will manage birth control better than they have everything else!!!

I love how the video poster gives us the thoughts from the gorilla expert as if it's okay. No one thinks is Kiyo is actually mating for real. He's humping her because he's going through natural gorilla hormones and urges. The point why people are upset, is because this type of behavior WILL eventually get him in a fight with his much larger father. It exactly what happens in the wild when the blackback is caught doing this by the Silverback. They fight, and the smaller of the two leaves. Here that can't happen, he's stuck in a cage which means both Kiyo and Shabani are in serious danger because the zoo is too crappy to recognize what every other zoo in the Western world does and WHY separating them is so important. Trying to make excuses and not saying something against this behavior to the zoo officials is wrong. Every zoo in Japan treats their gorillas like this and I'm starting to realize it's perhaps something in the Japanese culture that is seriously wrong with your lack of sympathy and awareness towards animal cruelty. Not that it's surprising with how other Asian countries treat animals but just disapponting to see that Japan and it's people not more evolved than this. You keep visiting this terrible zoo and giving them money so they can continue. Until your people stand up, and admit there is a problem it will continue and you're contributing it. And a last note, less barbaric people find incest of any kind disgusting to watch. Animals or not. Glad you get your views though.

You are right and I don’t think they have any plans how to avoid those situations. I like you thought the Japanese were a little more sophisticated than some others Asia countries were they eat animals and treating them so badly. But unfortunately they have this way where animals aren’t that special like we think they are. I sent money to the Kyoto zoo but seems too they are not improving idem.
