Germany is more an economic power not a military power, because most people don‘t want that Germany has a big Army because of our past (WW2 & WW1)
Germany has sooo much bureaucracy, safety regulation and laws that its nearly impossible to have working army (seriously we have tanks that cannot be used because the air conditioning is too old to get a certificate and other vehicles dont meet the safety regulations required for pregnant women in an office????) - politicians want to have a good army recently (because of... you know russia and stuff...) but we are missing tanks (our prime minister really called for a commission recently to count and find out how many we really have) dont produce the right ammunition (produced in neutral swiss so we have to sent some tanks without ammo to ukraine) and huge amounts of weapons and ammunition "got lost" at our military storages over the years and getting new ones will take years and cost billions of euros.....because.... bureaucracy

As a french i can tell you that we don't care about this since decades
Even the elders don't have any hate since the creation of the EU
I can say that the whole population will be more happy than anything if you start growing your military
We don't fear of being enemies again so its a bonus for us, it will be much more like a good rivalery that keep us grinding together
Its the opposite of algeria for us, who continues untill today to have a revenge mindset even 60 years after the war

those 3 european countries are like kr-jp-cn in asia. they all appear to hang around nicely, but always hostile sentiment behind the scene. kr and jp are enjoying as high income level and high quality of living as those 3 in the europe while cn is yet far behind though.
