- I often saw exterior shutters when I was in Switzerland three years ago. I wanted to build one of these someday.

The typhoon did not cause any serious problems, only that the path was blocked by fallen trees and that cleaning up fallen leaves was a hassle.
This place is part of my homestead.
The animals (LAMP, YONA, and GWIN) stay in the main house, except when I bring them here occasionally. They don't sleep curled up together, but they don't fight and keep a good distance from each other.
This is not a how-to video.
The method I'm using is not necessarily the right one. Nowadays, you can find out the right way to do things by searching on Google. If you only want results, that's fine too.
But for me, the most important thing is not whether a method is right or wrong, but to experience firsthand why it succeeds or fails.
All work is done personally and at my own risk.

The red shutters give the right pop of color. You did a nice job making them.
Such relief and joy I feel...to see you and chatty catty....back at work...and not too much damage ... reports from there looked really bad...the little window project turned out really nice...and practical ...we appreciate our vlogging friends...and can't help but worry ... when events such as this happens. ❤ from Texas ! 🤠

Brucke when I heard of the typhoon and storm that went through southern Japan I thought of you and my prayers was on you and I am so relieved to see you are okay with just minor damage but just a big mess to clean. I am in Florida USA and you are top of my watch list and I have been anxiously waiting to see how you were. Happy to see you.

Glad everyone was safe there… hope the new cottage wasn’t too damaged… by the rain… you might want to add a strip of wood down to overlap the shutter seam…and add a latch to lock it tight… against the wind and weather.

See you, your family, and the FurBabies all made it through. Some cleanup and repairs always seem to be a part of it somehow. Sad to see so many beautiful trees down, but I’m sure they will be transformed into something useful and/or beautiful. We always gain insights with new perspectives, and life flows forward. How much damage! About a year ago I too had a lot of damage with the wind; I also showed it in a video. Lots of wood for the stove.

It was nice to see that Gwin made at least a token appearance.... On the window, you should have a removeable screen between the shutters and the glass pane....that way you can get fresh air inside and not the skeeters....

Can you harvest and make lumber from the fallen trees and firewood and kindling from some of the debris on the path to your cabin?
As of late, I thought that this cabin was your actual home-place, not just a get-away. But… many people also are doing just what you are doing, even those that build semi permanent dugout structures in forests, giving them a place to get away from the rat-race insanity.
